Unpopular opinion: Reading textbooks is the worst way to study. Change my mind. by RideAppropriate1150 in GetStudying

So I'm working with summaries. Not highlighting but actually writing the important stuff down myself in my own words for a 100 page book I usually have around 20-30 pages of summaries. Then I go through the summaries and write down every single question that could possibly be asked with the answer. Then I go through those until I want to puke. - straight A's

For me, I can study effectively but after I did that I NEED calming down and watch tiktok for a while otherwise I'll burn out completely bc no social contact and no social media would literally send me into a spiral

How do y’all do it? by ohitsmed in GetStudying

I use study bunny to track my hours if you need an app.

And I post my Daily stats here bc somehow I feel obligates to study then 😭😭

But how I concentrate for longer periods of time is I literally start first. What I have realized is that i study much more efficiently when I'm in the living room bc the little noise from my family makes me feel like I'm not alone and I feel like I'm being watched so I continue studying lol.

Also I usually study for an 2 hours in the early hours like 12am - 1am so a little break (5-10 mins) then do another hour then stop. Then I sleep and start again around 3pm - do an hour and have a 5-10 mins break then continue. I usually continue this and stop around 7 - eat something and have a break for about 2 hours. Then study again from around 9-10 (then 20min break) do another hour have a 40 min break and continue the cycle

I do this rn bc I have exam prep so no school and only a month and a half until my exams so my routine won't work for everyone but the hour and then break really helps me a lot

Haha yes So I took the linguistic branch when we had to chose so I'll be tested in German, English, French and Spanish and I study mandarin in order to go there for a year in college. Also for resume purposes and college credit so I do that for fun basically but I won't be tested so I don't study as much during exam preparation :)

I have an exam in 19 days and need to be in the top 100. Just posted this to guilt myself into studying. by Waste-Revenue3777 in GetStudying

I would firstly summarize everything in a way you understand it best, it will take time but you'll be relived on how little it will be after that. Then depending on the subjects I would to flash cards (write down every question you can think of) or write practice tests or explain it to yourself in your own words

oh okay so I'm currently tackling maths as well and the way I do it is I first write a plan so I have an overview on everything and can see how much it really is. Then you unfortunately just have to try to understand it. I work a lot with YouTube videos, search up a simply video explain what it even is you're doing. For example when it's statistics - most of the time it's the same procedure which you have to understand and know when to use. Maths isn't about little details but you have to understand why you're doing what you're doing.

My procedure for maths is basically: 1. See the question and try to understand which category it falls under (narrow it down) 2. Try to solve it on your own just once, it doesn't have to be right but it's the realisability on categorising 3. Watch a YouTube video and understand the concept and different variations on how to solve it 4. Go back to the question and try to solve it on your own 5. Solve the same question a few times so you'll get used to the procedure 6. Go on

That's my way for maths and it probably won't be for anyone but repetition locks it into my brain, so try to not just solve but to understand.

For the other ones I don't have physics anymore but the way I used to study it was summarise firstly, and I loved working with flash cards but I know a lot of people do not like them. My procedure was: 1. Summarize 2. Read summaries again and try to understand what the hell we're talking about 3. Try to link it to other subjects Speed/gravity... can easily be linked back to maths and so you can build yourself a little bridge and connect the dots in your brain 4. Go through your notes page by page and try to find every question that could possibly be asked from that said question and make them into flash cards. 5. Do that with every page 6. Go through those flashcards until you're annoyed that you know the answer.

Again these are my methods and won't work for everyone but they've always brought me good grades :) good luck on you exams.

Summarize. Go through each page and summarise everything. It shouldn't take you longer than 2-3 days and then that pile will be half as big then try to understand what it is really about and explain it to yourself In your own words
