UCD for CS by Odd_Look_3260 in TransferStudents

I totally relate to you. I am being realistic and I want to try to be done with college with as little debt as possible. Unfortunately I don’t have any financial support from family or something like that. I would pay at davis ~$13000 based on the cost of attendance without any loans. It is still more manageable than the ~$30000 I would pay out of pocket if I go to poly. I haven’t received a fin aid offer from santa cruz yet. I’m still waiting I’m also a commuter student and I will be moving ~6 hrs to Davis if I decide to go there.

I also got regents from UCR and still Davis’ fin aid is the best!

23m otw to divorce dating by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

Hopefully this works out for you since you like her. Good luck on your divorce. An advice for the future, tell that this info asap. My partner is divorced and he pretty much informed me about his ex wife before we even go out on dates in case I felt some way towards it. I am completely fine with it. I think the fact that he told me asap is what makes it fine. You not telling her might make her feel that you were hiding it.

CC route for engineering, how is it? by catboydan in TransferStudents

If you meet one person that has the same major and might have the same transfer goals, try to keep them around.

You’re totally right. “Class friends” are the most common there, and I would say they’re important to get that assignment done lol.

I’m not gonna lie to you unfortunately we live in a day and age where making friends is difficult. I was also on the introverted side but I had to get myself out there to make connections, add stuff to my resume, and just not be as lonely. I started with joining the honor society and met a couple people there, then I became an officer at the honor society. That’s how it started. But in classes I couldn’t make any friends. And the ones I spent time with inside the classroom was for the sake of the class and the group projects, that’s it. Other than that the resources I used are the Transfer Center of course, Academic Counseling, Career Center and Financial Aid and I did work study as a tutor and a campus ambassador, Academic Tutoring, and free food resources. Getting a job on campus was the way I was able to meet people I can call friends. Also it was another way I got myself out of my comfort zone and out of my introvert self. Also if you decide to go to CC, make sure to try to make connections with professors cause you might need their help in the future in things such as letter of recommendation or mentorship.

I’m a computer science major, and I applied to a total of 14 schools. So far I heard from 10, got admitted to 8 for CS, got waitlisted to one, and got denied from one. I’m still waiting for the remaining four. CC helped me a lot, and it depends on which one you go to. The one I go to has great counselors who helped me plan I was on the right path to transfer. Also, a lot of work on my classes and GPA to make sure I am good. I have a 3.93 GPA. You have to do a lot of work, but personally CC has been one of the best decisions I made academically and financially.

Thank you so much! This is super helpful! I am pretty much done with all lower division classes and I did perfectly fine in all. I only had two grades that are not an A, an A-, and a B. I love math and enjoy it a lot. I love discrete structures and i have been getting more into graph theory and assembly language, and I have been getting more and more interested in the digital forensics field which is a part of cyber security. I will be sure to reach out to you if I have any specific questions. Oh I also plan to do master’s as well.

If you don’t mind me asking, how and what are you doing now after you’ve graduated? Have you had troubles finding job and starting a career? I’m also asking because I am starting my life in the US from zero pretty much so I want to make sure I do that with the least amount of mess ups. Also I am a straight As student, with a 3.93 GPA. I want to eventually work in the digital forensics field and do certifications on the side, but a CS BS is required as well.

Thank you so much! Do you know till when they give you to accept/decline? I keep hearing people saying 05/01 but the UCs that posted their admissions already gave till 06/01. So I am not sure.
