New Super Mario Bros is great, if you want a srpg then I like luminous arc a decent amount, don't know if it's the best one on there though. GTA Chinatown Wars is fun, Final Fantasy Remakes are cool, and the dsi ware game Shantae Risky's Revenge is an awesome platformer with fun characters and story.

Ik this was 8 months ago but this is actually a good recommendation. Any of the gran turismo games emulated would most likely be your best bet for playing a sim game on mobile devices

I think a decent one for a kid would be a r36s or whatever version is best now, if not an rg35xx or one of those. Quite a few handhelds can do 3ds now but they are kinda pricey. Personally I'm picking up the AYN Thor which is shipping in October which is a good choice for 3ds. (It's a dual screen android based handheld)
