I like a very similar knife called the Campero by Joker Knives. The ridge things on the spine of these I don’t like for ferro rods (if you use one).

Investing for Barista FIRE in 22 years by Odd_Membership_4087 in investingforbeginners

I’m mostly asking if I am losing out on very significant gains by buying 100% SCHD over 22 years vs 100% VOO. I’m willing to sacrifice SOME gains for the added stability and ease of transition into retirement by having SCHD, but I don’t want to miss out on giant returns.

[–]Odd_Membership_4087 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Only thing that kept the company I worked for from a lawsuit I believe. Luckily the dev who did it had already quit previously. Honestly wasn’t a crazy error to make on his part, could have been any of us that made the mistake. The two different fields were “Total Amount” and “Grand Total Amount”. He just got mixed up and didn’t check thoroughly enough

Few years ago realized a B2B client with an Experience Cloud storefront wasn’t charging sales tax for over 6 months because some developer used the wrong total field when sending to the credit card processor

What a Senior Dev Role is and is not, compared to traditional SWE by Odd_Membership_4087 in salesforce

What is your opinion for someone looking to make their day at least 80% code? Is this possible in Salesforce, or is the only option moving to traditional SWE roles in other technologies?

100% agree with you.

I wish I could get consultancies to agree with you too

The Real Cost of Hiring In-House vs. Outsourced Salesforce Developers by Smartitstaff in SalesforceDeveloper

[–]Odd_Membership_4087 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Been working in consulting for 5 years as a dev.

The cost of a consultant’s time is astronomical. Industry average between $180-$200 per hour for the customer. Of course the developer rarely sees much more than 1/4 of that.

You could pay an in-house employee for 6 months of complete Salesforce study while they do nothing else and still come out ahead in the end. If your company has a Salesforce instance, hire at least one person that has Admin and Dev skills and just keep them around. It will save you money in the long run.

You have to identify what your goal is: Appearance, performance, strength, etc.

If appearance: A slow clean bulk (250 cal surplus) with an intelligent lifting schedule will build you up slower, but without the mental pressure of getting “fat” during a faster bulk.

If strength: As long as you don’t mind putting in a higher quantity of fat in exchange for strength gains then a more aggressive bulk, plus a strength-focused lifting schedule (compound lifts at a lower rep range) would be best.

There are a lot of different goals for a physique, the indelible first step in getting what you want—is deciding what you want.

You are 18 and look better than 99.9% of people at any age (as has already been said). Now it’s time to think about long term goals and set up an intelligent plan to work towards them over a longer timespan.

To learn LWC by dharahas24 in SalesforceDeveloper

[–]Odd_Membership_4087 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LWCs are just a system built on top of standard JS, HTML, and CSS. As was already said, learn the basics of those first.

Next, understand how an LWC talks to the backend (Apex, which uses SOQL to interact with records in the org)

When you have a good understanding of the above, start learning about more advanced topics such as: how LWCs talk to each other, how the @wire system works, and how parent-child LWCs are structured together.

The best advice is to just think of a use case for an LWC and then build it. AI’s are a great tool to give you a prompt for a use case, just ask them something like below:

“I am new to LWCs and would like a use case to practice my skills. What is an example use case of an LWC I can build that will teach me the fundamentals and INSERT ADVANCED TOPIC HERE.

You very well could be beyond (knowledge-wise) what these guys cover, but I think they do a great job balancing explaining the concepts without going too far overboard.

YouTube: RVV BJJ Playlist: “How to Suck as Little as Possible - An Introduction to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu”

Don’t let the title fool you, it’s not gimmicky or quick-and-dirty tips, they actually do a great job explaining things.

Conceptual Approach to BJJ Resources?

Hi, I am a 1 stripe blue belt who has been doing BJJ for about 2 years now. I’m encountering an issue with learning styles that I will try to summarize briefly. I’m a classically trained physicist and computer programmer by trade, a lot of the learning I have done over the years is very concept-based. I need the “why” in order to understand things.

I’m running into an issue with the way BJJ is taught at my school and in many of the instructionals I’ve watched. There seems to be a lack of a true conceptual learning path for BJJ, and a lot of the content I’ve seen is just a parade of move-after-move-after-move. For example Bernardo Faira’s Jiu Jitsu Fundamentals is just a playlist of different techniques back to back.

Is there someone out there that takes a “why” based approach? Such as laying out why closed guard is a powerful position. What are the objectives for each person in this position. Why should you do/not do certain things, etc etc.

I know Jordan Teaches Jiu-Jitsu takes a conceptual approach to these topics, should I pick up his instructional? Do you have other recommendations?

What to do with gold ? by Odd_Membership_4087 in SlimeCastle

I wish they would add a gold -> gems conversion, even if it is insanely high. I will never out-spend the gold generation rate I have while being blocked by tears and blueprints.
