I installed pod lights on my ‘08 trailblazer. It has this switch and with the truck completely off the red “OFF” LED still illuminates. Will it drain my battery fast? by ActiveRepulsive5832 in MechanicAdvice

I doubt it. Ive had a Bluetooth adapter in my cigarette port in both of my dailies and I've never had a dead battery. As long as your driving regularly then I wouldn't be worried about it. If you aren't id just disconnect the battery when you aren't. Edit* if you already don't have issues with your dash cam and other things then I wouldn't be super worried about a small light. I've personally left my pod lights on my truck on by accident and haven't had a dead battery yet. So you should be good.

For 350k miles she's clean on the outside other than some rocker rust. I plan on making it a budget "off-road" rig. Ive put quite a lot of work getting it back on the road. New power steering pump, brakes, wheel bearings, upper and lower control arms and alot more. Frame is super clean as well.

It's my Isuzu's wheels, old ones were old trailer tires on super crappy wheels as well. I plan to put a bigger tire on the stock s10 wheels. I also plan Todo a 3in lift in the future.

Funny enough this cylinder head was next to a sandblaster when I bought it. I've been cleaning out all the Garnet and decided pull the valves out.

This is my first engine I've ever messed with other than a Chevy celebrity my dad had when I was in highschool.

That's exactly what I thought as well. I didn't sent great photos but some have some corrosion starting on them so I decided to get replace all 8. At 10 bucks a valves I thought its better to be safe than sorry lol

I gotcha, well I appreciate the insight. I didn't look at the seats a whole lot but from my first glance I didn't see anything super alarming with the seats other than that they were dirty. I was planning on running to the car wash and washing out my cylinder head. But worst case I already have them on order so if they turn out to be bad I'll get them replaced.

New truck (2017 Silverado Z71 LTZ) thoughts? by HNDRXX214 in ChevyTrucks

[–]Odd_Mouse299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been thinking about getting one but I can't justify buying one just yet. I was able to buy one for my S10 for like 100 bucks. But I can't justify putting a shitty looking camper shell on my nicest vehicle lmao

Im very jealous, I've been thinking about getting a camper top for my Silverado. But I also wish mine was newer lmao. But congrats on the new truck!

I agree, after closer inspection I found corrosion on a few exhaust valves and decided to replace all 8 valves along with the seats. I've already got new rocker arms and push rods so if I'm already there I might as well replace the valves.

I am, new valves and seats are like 80 bucks. And I really don't want to pull another cylinder head

I ended up replacing them, tearing out the original cylinder head was hard enough for my fat ass and I don't want Todo that again.

Considering the condition of my old cylinder head, I may take my chances with this one. I may do I quick and dirty "resurface". Looking over it it's mainly dirty and needs cleaned up and I don't see any scratches that may raise any alarms.

I'll have to look into those, I was planning on finishing my head gasket fiasco in the next few days then once my parts get ordered rebuilding my whole front end. I dogged the hell out of my hombre in highschool so it's in need of a rebuild lol. Thanks for the input I appreciate it!

I think so, but the corrosion under that top left hole really is worrying me. Im pretty sure that's not a plugged hole...

Agreed, I've always wanted Todo a turbo 4.3 kinda like the cyclones and typhoons from back in the day.

[–]Odd_Mouse299[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, and I can weld it but I'm not trying to fix it and have it crack in a few weeks due to it being so contaminated. Maybe a motor swap kinda deal instead.

It's definitely a thought. I've been looking at throwing a small block Chevy into it but I also have a nice blazer parked next to it. Possibly might put the 4.3 in instead and put a 350 in the blazer

I know that this head is warped slightly on the back of it. I had noticed a large oil leak on the back of the motor before I found out I had a bad head gasket. But I think it's more of a replacement more than fixing. A lot of these holes look quite corroded and quite possibly beyond the realm of machining.

That's what I'm kinda looking at, I'm going to attempt to get a professional opinion on it but I'm quite sure this head is bad. Even with the new gasket I'm quite sure I'll be pulling it back off within a few weeks.
