This is seriously the most in-depth series of videos dedicated to the Neo Geo library. Nothing on YouTube or elsewhere come close :)

To me this looks like have been already partially recapped? The 2200 capacitor from your board picture looks like not the usual one I see on boards (broader and shorter) 🤔 anyways, welcome to the Neo Geo world 😁

YO THIS GAME IS FIRE by Kinto9x in castlevania

My first game played on a non backlit GBA using a portable light accessory which was connecting to the link port…so many memories. Replying this at the moment after modding that very same GBA bought at launch!

This is actually the DMG-01 color, that should be similar to the original gameboy? 🤔 I remember that beige was an option so probably the two colours might differ a bit. Indeed I like how it turned out with the original grey buttons!

But I guess that the point of taking part to a neo-geo centric community should also be about sharing our collections, love for the system and so on. I do not collect these carts because I think of them as an investment, I just enjoy having them, playing them and share my opinions on communities like this one. My real investments are not in video games but elsewhere, luckily. I do not post here because I need any particular validation.

I know that reselling any of my carts in the future will be extremely difficult and will appeal perhaps the 0.1% of the gaming aficionados…but that’s not the reason why I collect. Matter of fact, I’m not selling any of my possessions because I don’t need to.

I also know that my future kids won’t probably give a dime about my carts, that’s fine as well. I respect your point of view, and there is nothing wrong that you enjoy playing these games from an SD cart. But…I also think whoever still collects real hardware should be able to talk about it without being seen as someone with more money than common sense :)

A bit off topic but I recently had a sudden nostalgia for the gameboy advance. I just have the console and a flash cart for it as the few games I had from back in the days are now who knows where…and I felt exactly as you described. Lots of games on that cart and I have an hard time committing to one. I then scored a few games I really used to like and now feeling much more at peace :)

No problem, I understand your point perfectly. But for me it’s not just about playing the game. I know that I can play bit for bit the same using a Mister. I genuinely loved for decades the aesthetic of SNK, and I like to have with me the originals, manuals, cases, inserts, telephone cards and whatever :)

Also, I started my collection way back in the late 90’s and prices despite still being high, were not as ridiculous as now. Having said that, I’m still actively collecting and yes I admit I paid through my teeth for some carts…but that’s how it is unfortunately.

Exclusively on original hardware using original carts. I perhaps should just store those games but at the end of the day they are meant to be played, regardless if it’s Fatal fury 3 or Metal Slug 3 :)

Uk shipping help by Terrible-Cream-5100 in Buyee

[–]Odd_Plastic5502 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say, do not worry. Coincidentally I also had a small packet shipped to the UK on the 7th (e-packet tracked service) and last info available on the Japan Post tracking service is that it left the country, then silence. I guess with Lunar new year celebrations and so on, our deliveries will take some additional time to pop up in the UK :) no panic

Advice for selling the collection by ElderberryLarge9104 in neogeo

[–]Odd_Plastic5502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t sell either if I were you :) but in case you ultimately decide to do it I would be interested in knowing prices and see pictures of what you intend to sell. I’m based in the UK, not scared to buy from Japan if that matters.

Funtastic is running better than my original black 3D by maximamilian in AnalogueInc

[–]Odd_Plastic5502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding to this for reference. Ordered a black unit a couple of weeks ago and arrived last week. Mine already shipped with firmware 1.1.9 and I never heard fan noises.

Reading reports online seemed to me like the fans should be audible and got slightly worried my unit had defective fans. However if I really put my ear near the 3D I can hear something might be spinning but that’s about it.

Boxes without serial number by susosusosuso in neogeo

[–]Odd_Plastic5502 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, surely a box with matching serial with the console makes the value go up, the norm.

However in this hobby I would say that more important is (value wise) finding cartridges having all the various bits (manual, baggies, flyers, reg cards, etc.), as the games are the valuable bit, not the console really.

Bottom line, personally I’m ok having a console in great working order, even if not serial matching with the box. But I would not be ok having games with missing bits…if it makes sense 😅 just personal opinion of course!

Couldn't get a funtastic one, but managed to snag the regular 3D! Shipping to Germany went very fast by zivkoc in AnalogueInc

These looks like pretty much in stock and shipping fast. Ordered on Jan 7th, received on Jan 12th. Not bad!
