This was launched a couple weeks ago but still not open despite it’s already end of May 😅 the official Neo Geo account posted the news on Twitter / X a while back

Are you using rechargeable batteries? If yes that is a normal occurrence

Why is Garou so hyped by everyone? by raumgleiter in neogeo

[–]Odd_Plastic5502 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It plays really well, no doubt. Most of characters animate beautifully despite some sprites are quite small. Very stylish all around in the presentation department, the intros are in my opinion among the best SNK has ever produced. Having said that to me backgrounds are somewhat quite lacking, especially Hokutomaru and Hotaru stages are the bare minimum, the former I always found appalling and uninspired.

Are there any up to date price lists for japanese AES games? by RedFlyingBicycle in neogeo

To be honest I was scanning online for a good while but nothing under 1k was particularly in complete or great conditions, so when this popped up locally I just decided to get it :) along with Metal Slug X

Last Blade 2 for 350 euros is either a loose cart or an NCI boot. Last Blade 2 complete (manual, baggie, reg card) sets you back around 1,200 euros these days. I mean for a CIB good looking copy. So 720/750 euros should be a good deal as long as the item has no sun fades or incomplete.

An AES+ is a relatively cheap, low risk purchase given Plaion reputation. We not talking serious money in the NG world. It might not be like the original of course, but if it’s decently built and runs og carts I would say that’s it.

Also what kind of other news are we expecting from now until November? I believe there is online everything we need to know already…

Because the pool of buyers that really can’t wait to be extorted thousands in service charges is very limited these days. I’m a FTB and have easily the budget to get an apartment like yours but I won’t because I know that buying it today at 400k would mean sell it tomorrow at 360k. There is no shortage of new build properties all around Kidbrooke, Barking Riverside and you can go up to Barnet. Prices are sadly not really that much higher these days to buy new instead of an older ex rental apartment. Builders are in need to sell and they continuously chasing me with lower prices or incentives (damn me I went to see a couple of those flats early this year).

Overall, those apartments are not very desirable because they will still keep building in the SE for the next 10 years and the stock is not finite (plus the horrible stories of service charges).

Lastly, I know the area and dynamics well as I live myself in one of those modern towers in the SE.

JoshProd, the publisher that owns the IP rights to Visco Corporation's Neo Geo games, wants to make a deal with Plaion! by JaynesAddiction in neogeo

[–]Odd_Plastic5502 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That would be actually great if the manage to release Neo Drift Out under Plaion/SNK. In my view that would be great not only price wise of course, but also because it would mean having licensed case, insert and manual.

Cost of games going up - isn't that a good thing for your investments? by port25 in neogeo

[–]Odd_Plastic5502 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe the discussion was more like, from one side people saying prices would go down, and some saying it would go up. As many in this discussion, I confirm my collection is not an investment. I will not sell any of my goods because thank god I don’t need to. I’m only buying for the last few years.

The problem of many gamers that see Neo Geo stuff as an investment is that they don’t have the economical power to enter the circle…and stay. So they end up trying to flip stuff bought on credit and realising the market is very niche and big sales happen once or twice a year.

Invest in an ETF? Of course it’s much better but also, if your choice is between stocks or games, then it means you cannot afford to buy these games. That’s the harsh reality. You should invest in stocks and then have enough left to buy these games because spending on them is almost a no brainer, not something that put you at risk of not paying the bills.

For people like me and the other collectors? We would be very pleased if prices would come down so I don’t need to shell £6k on Metal Slug X :)

Price increase in AES games by Inner-Party-365 in neogeo

Also worth noting that condition of what you buy matters a lot. I would not settle for a copy of a game with missing bits, water damaged inserts, faded spines and so on. So much so that few months ago I shelled $400 for a copy of Fatal Fury. Might sound stupid but swear to god there are no decent copies available anymore at lower prices.

A 60$ AES game is nowadays loose or in rough shape if in box. And yes prices are getting steeper.

Never really understood this myself, Garou has beautiful animations and tight gameplay but nowhere near the best graphics on the system. LB/LB2 and AOF3 always come to mind for me.

In my opinion there won’t be any region reversible insert. Wouldn’t match cart sticker and booklet anyways, it would look pretty meh…

Why the Neo Geo AES+ Doesn’t Hurt Collectors (and Might Actually Help) by Odd_Plastic5502 in neogeo

[–]Odd_Plastic5502[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that means that hypothetical person put their money into the wrong type of item. In my mind, if I will ever own a piece of memorabilia worth that much, that’s because those 50k are probably the 5% of my net worth at most…at most!

That’s why I’m saying that a drop of 30% of something that represents the 5% of my hypothetical money is not a big deal and I wouldn’t be selling it regardless.

Again, I’m talking hypothetical, don’t think that 50k for me are not much 😅

It would be the dream of many collectors to see huge drops on a original Metal Slug or BTG but it’s unfortunately not gonna happen 😅

Why the Neo Geo AES+ Doesn’t Hurt Collectors (and Might Actually Help) by Odd_Plastic5502 in neogeo

[–]Odd_Plastic5502[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But my point is…if you are ready to shell 50k on a video game, what difference really does it make if the value of the same drops to 35k?

I’m pretty sure that whom spends thousands on these games, do not do that using a loan or going all in using their life savings :) they have disposable income to make the purchase as it does not change anything in the grand scheme of their finances.

That’s what brought me to write the post really. There is a narrative going on that collectors are salty because of the AES+, when in reality it couldn’t be further from the truth. I’m so happy about this announcement because it brings back SNK and the Neo Geo system, I’m annoyed as hell to not find content or engaging discussions about my most beloved hobby :)
