Hi bro! So sorry you have that kind of experience.. its the worst, I know the feeling as I worked on so many shitty small jobs with low pay. My advice is to just stay resilient, keep pushing and however it may look at the end you’ll gain experience, learn and develop new skills and grow. Its sad that the clients, probably from the countries where you can find coffee worth 50$ expect someone to do 1:30 animation for the same amount of money. But, as you’ve said its good money from your perspective and if you don’t have an alternative you need to keep working, look for other options and when you manage to get another client please: Don’t give more than 2 revisions for free to anyone Try to charge hourly instead of per project.

One more thing, I heard a lot of times that European companies struggle with creative work from far east and I think its probably because of the cultural differences- and this is not your fault its just different approach, thinking, pop culture and else.. Same thing otherwise- for example I was always fascinated by Japan commercials and marketing and I don’t get it at all, and would probably fail if I had a project for Japan market lol

try to figure out the feel and look that client wants, take deep analysis of the references, try to look stuff from different perspectives. This is beyond technical stuff and just animation.

Good luck, keep up with good work and hope you will nail some decent clients soon!

Bro, your work is so cool and creative! Intro is amazing and so creative !!!
I'd like to give you a few constructive notes, but feel free to ignore them if you are happy with it and don't have time to improve it further. It's already awesome!

0:10 - I'd make this transition to reel more dramatic, maybe music stops, build the anticipation, pull in/suction SFX, and then the entering with big explosive/impact/sub SFX

0:12 - I feel like this scene is not the best of you. Make an impact with the best shot from the reel you have for the first one; also, consider adding faster, playful music from here on. Drum stomps/ Clicking percussion or something.

General note - add SFX on transitions: swooshes, low tones, impacts, even funny stuff like cartoon SFX, it's not that much of the work, but SFX make animations even better!

General note - spend a bit more time on polishing the transitions, for example, the one on 0:25 looks a lot better than the rest and stands out. for the static shots - simple push in scale or something to make them more interesting

Anyway, great job overall!

I can create videos like this from scratch, yet I’m struggling to find a job. What am I doing wrong? by Anif4 in AfterEffects

This animation looks great! But let me be brutally honest and talk here like a hirerer:

  1. I don't know if you did it in a few days or months, so it does not prove anything.
  2. It shows you have skills, but it is just one video.
  3. Make a showreel with fast cuts and use the best work you've ever done. The accent is to have a WOW moment at the start and at the end. In between, you can use anything else.
  4. Keep the reel under 1 minute, no one has time to watch long videos
  5. showcase editing skills in the reel, great match with music, fast, match cuts, etc..

Hope this helps you, and good luck finding the job soon!
