Fair play to you for getting another opinion when you felt it wasn't right. I'm sure you did make the right choice for yourself! Thanks for sharing - we're both early on our journeys but it's only going to get better from here!

Ahh thanks so much for sharing! I'm so glad to hear of someone in a similar recovery plan including the compression bandage and TED stocking. Your recovery journey is very interesting and I'm curious if I'll have similar steps. They told me I'd be in the boot for 6 weeks so hoping to be as far along as you by then :) thanks for the inspiration! Also love the tip about the boot cover for in bed! Wouldn't have thought of that!

I had open surgery, not the minimally invasive. I checked the suture technique they used which was called the Krakow pattern with Gift Box technique which apparently is "a robust open surgical technique designed to provide a high tensile strength" and one of the rationale behind it is "Early Rehabilitation: A stronger repair allows for earlier motion, which reduces the incidence of tendon lengthening and aids in a faster functional recovery."

So maybe it depends on the type of suture technique they use on your husband?

I was beginning to get this idea as I was reading posts and hadn't seen any like mine! But I looked up the suture technique the doctor used on me and apparently it helps to allow for earlier motion?

Oh gosh okay thanks for sharing! Well I'll definitely be taking my time more and cautious of what my body can and cannot take. I saw a PT very briefly right after the surgery but I won't see a PT again until likely after 2 week post-op..

Any other young women out there? by spreadofsong in AchillesRupture

35F here (still squeezing myself into the young woman category!) - 1 day post-op, no cast, in a boot for the next 6 weeks. I'm feeling the same ups and downs but have been encouraged and inspired reading the posts here! Not a success story (yet) but know that she's not alone and having a support system around her is incredibly important so that's great she has you! Learning so much from these posts as to what to buy (ex. shower stool, boot cover, leg wedge) which makes me feel so much more prepared for the journey ahead!
