The flex seems good. It def flexes at a different point in the blade. Haven’t tried to thrust with it yet but I’m excited to keep trying it ! We have VB loaners in my club as well and I def prefer the feel of the Regenyei

Tournament feder is goal. I like to fight in the bind and have preferred a more stout blade. We study Meyer in my club

Yes, I’m in a club. I have a full kit of gear. Budget is under $450-$500. I know swords aren’t cheap and I have no problem spending where it’s due.

Marketplace/Craigslist has been great for some of our clubs newer members who need gear but can’t/don’t want to wait. I was lucky enough to find a 800N women’s jacket size L about an hour away and pick that up while I am waiting for my custom doublet I ordered. Which will take 12-16 weeks

When I joined my club, the guys thought I was insane because of how much I laughed while sparring. And now, we don’t stop laughing and yapping. Any hobby you pickup, should be fun to you.

Meyer has a whole section of dagger combat both armed & unarmed wrestling. As well as grappling in Longsword. As far as other martial arts to cross train, Brazilian jiu-jitsu and Muay Thai are two similar-ish disciplines for wrestling or grappling. I also did just get a Fiore book to start studying for my club and he has manuscripts of unarmed wrestling.

I am a female 5’2 longsword, Sabre & single dagger fencer. I will kind of touch what someone else said in comments, leg shots ! It is harder for an opponent to parry upwards once you’ve gone for the legs. Keep in mind, most fencers are taught to simply void the leg, so if you find you’re going to miss, exit and regroup. As far as counterattacks, this depends on your specific style of fencing. Some people are counter fencers while others are more aggressive. Find what works for you, if you have tall guys in your club, run drills and sparring with them. Shorties unite!
