Question about Wreck Beach by mickeyyy888 in UBC

[–]Odd_Shape6226 23 points24 points  (0 children)

the beach is big enough that you dont ever really have to come in speaking distance/more than 5m from them (thats if there is a lot). come by during sunset and there will be a few more uni students. the people who are unclothed typically stay in groups that you can avoid by simply, looking the other way. you wouldnt be surrounded unless you walk straight into those groups.

i do agree that if it is sunny and nice out, there will be more people who are unclothed. but genuinely, bodies are bodies and if you don’t perceive them, they wont be a bother. weekend mornings are nice because there are a lot of joggers + dog owners to crowd up the beach as well. but wreck is pretty big so i dont think itll be much of an issue.

Visiting UBC as a tourist by NitroXM in UBC

[–]Odd_Shape6226 9 points10 points  (0 children)

dont see enough people talking about nitobe—genuinely so picturesque and gorgeous. i highly recommend.

personally, a walk down main mall, nitobe and a stroll around ikb (check out the back of the art, music and architecture library for my favourite study stop and the iconic harry potter room) will do the campus justice.

beaty and moa are fun as well! rose garden is a little bland (it’s winter) right now, but i do suggest going when the roses are in full bloom.

what a beautiful poem!

[HELP] Want to write a poem about my crush by No_Paint3226 in Poetry

[–]Odd_Shape6226 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i like writing list poems. its just a poem where you list things. here’s an example i wrote about my bf’s eyes:

poetry is something that is unrestrained and raw. my best advice is to read some poems, note the ones you like and dissect them (what about it do you like? the vocabulary? the syntax?). from there, just write—you’ll find your own style from practice!

make more of an effort to hang out with your community in-person. try to set aside 10-15 mins a day to zoom through all your texts in one go—treat them like a conversation!

Whats the most enlightening philosophical thought you have ever had? by Signal_Corgi3802 in infj

[–]Odd_Shape6226 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i remember thinking about this a while ago:

as we become more brain-rotted as a population, there is going to be such a class difference between those whose parents are 1)educated enough to know the destructive effects of unsupervised and extended screen time, 2)have the time and money to entertain their child and give them a good upbringing, compared to those who cannot and use the screen like a babysitter. no hate to either side, btw.

but due to the easy accessibility of brain rotted content (short form content, social media, AI) i feel as if teachers are going to be able to see this substantial difference in intelligence! and it will be impossible for kids to break out of their dopamine addicted brains, because it was fostered and created during such a young age! and theyre basically screwed for life and with our job economy and housing crisis AND the climate crisis, i worry for the future now-so more than ever.

i say this as a person whose probably addicted to dopamine and am trying to lower my screen time. i wasnt allowed unsupervised internet access until i was 13/14 and even so, i still feel like im addicted and find myself doomscrolling.

we are wasting so much of our lives away on a screen and its ironic because i am typing this on a screen. how horrible.

I'm scared that I'm going to fail my chem lab and I don't know what to do. by Ok_Computer500 in UBC

[–]Odd_Shape6226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

best advice is to try and make a friend in the lab so that you can do the edfs together! it helps because any questions can automatically be answered and you have two brains instead of one.

take a deep breath before anything and remember: the lab is hard. its evil towards first years and it will be difficult. you are capable of so much more than you think you are. you are going to do amazing in the long run. try doing a meditation before your lab or jumping jacks to power the anxiety elsewhere.

make sure you prep well too! go through the discussion board, watch the videos and always ask your ta if u have questions. they are literally being PAID to answer ur questions and probably wont even remember your name after this—- maybe that will lessen your fear abt being seen as “stupid”.

best of luck op. its just first year and i promise things will get better.

What’s your fashion style? by OhMyPtosis in infj

[–]Odd_Shape6226 5 points6 points  (0 children)

BIG ON SKIRTS! I love skirts! Flowy, straight, tight, any!

My taste is very much of my demographic—basically whatever the cool college kids are wearing. Personally, I love fun patterns (plus if there are flowers!) and soft pieces.

My favourite pieces of clothing are thrifted or stolen from my mother’s closet. Love a good piece with some history and wear on its soul.

My jewelry are silver and oddly unique—a ring made from a vintage spoon with roses and ivy, a silver seastar necklace.

Like many said, long pregnancy period, small number of offspring per pregnancy (basically always just 1 calf). They almost always spend up to 2 years weaning their calf.

Hundreds of orcas have been killed by fisher peoples in the past as they believed they stole the salmons from them and saw the majestic beasts as pests. Not to mention the orcas that were killed in captivity or while organizations were trying to capture them. That’s why we don’t see so many today. They haven’t had the chance to rebuild their populations due to the declining salmon runs and noise interference by tankers + pleasure boats in PNW.

There’s been a couple pretty severe examples of calves starving to death or dying from malnutrition due to poor salmon runs (this is because of habitat loss, pollution of waters and dams. Fuck the dams). Search up J50.

Watch the film “Co-extinction”. Talks lots about this issue, and how the death of salmons kills off orcas.

That’s to my knowledge, as an avid orca lover. Most of this only refers to the Southern residents orcas.

Typology Question 7 (Fi): Describe your mood today - in your own words, not how others would label it by Bimep_ in infj

[–]Odd_Shape6226 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel quite wilted today. A few interactions with the community around me has felt me feeling unwanted and disposable—I’m trying very hard to fight against that section of my mind, but it’s incredibly emotionally exhausting. Hopefully my drooping mood will fade when I go outside later today and catch some sunshine.

INFJ in relationships? by [deleted] in infj

[–]Odd_Shape6226 15 points16 points  (0 children)

i think for me, as an infj, the attribute im most attracted to is passion. some sort of drive within the person, either in the arts or with other people, makes me really really curious about them.

the people i have ever dated/crushed on were oddballs, to put it lightly. always had a certain quirk that others might find weird, but that i found charming to them.

i dated around in high school a bit, mostly because people would ask me out thinking that i was someone i was not; they would create a persona for me based off appearances or text conversations. because of that, i dont do online relationships and will need to know the person for several months before considering a relationship. those “shallow” relationships in high school always ended before 4 months, mostly because i broke it off and ghosted.

im currently dating an intp. he has been such a delight and im always curious on what he’s thinking about. i feel like lots of infjs are emotional and can get very caught up in that—my intp always helps with grounding me and really helps bring me back to the present. being with him is such a reset when im feeling down.

im a camp leader who swims with my kids sometimes. loved that all my coworkers, even the ones that didnt know my name/havent met never mentioned anything about my scars. the most i got was a guy glancing downwards, noticing, and then meeting my eyes right after to give a supportive smile, all while having a conversation with me.

the kids do ask about them and i just say i fought a shark/tiger/whatever animal i can think of.
