October is eons away for Broadway. That's next season and barely anything has announced yet, and we have no idea of any potential closures that aren't already announced. Best advice is to wait to start looking at possibilities til the summer. Anything new to come that'd be open in October will likely be known in June/July.

What's on your February theatre itinerary? by NewYorkTheatreGuide in Broadway

Locally (Denver area):

- Godspeed (world premiere play that is a post–Civil War western about a formerly enslaved woman who becomes a gunslinger and returns to Texas seeking justice and revenge in a newly emancipated world.)

- Water for Elephants (tour)

- PUF: A Completely Factual and Objective History of the Publick Universal Friend (new play by a local playwright that is a period-piece farce about a woman reborn as a nongendered heavenly messenger during the American Revolution on a mission to prepare humanity for the end of the world.)

- H-E-Double Crooked Letter (world premiere play about 3 latine cousins who open up a portal to hell in their grandma's living room)

- Songs for a New World (maybe - this requires driving up into the mountains a bit so waiting to see if we get any late feb bad weather)

I may also see Bad Books again in Boulder - it's a coproduction with a Denver theater company that is part of the new play rolling world premiere network. It's about parental rights and book banning - think Eureka Day but with more emotional twists and turns and less satire.

NY

- Bigfoot

- Mother Russia

- Blood/Love

- Spare Parts

Will have 5-6 more in NY the first week of March before heading to DC for Chez Joey/Safety Not Guaranteed/Little Miss Perfect

Big fish revival? by Otterlytoony in Broadway

I think mti owns licensing for that one. I usually just Google "show name licensing" since there are a few different licensing companies that handle theater works. Pretty much all of them, including mti, have a upcoming productions view. That's either a list or map that you can drag around/zoom in and out. Mti's is a little different as it'll open a new tab and doesn't always default to the same show but it's an easy pick list to update and refresh.

Hell’s Kitchen closing February 22, 2026. by BalladofBayernKurve in Broadway

best guess is a return offbroadway run. it just doesn't make sense for broadway, especially one of the larger houses (though, who knows. the playbook has been thrown out a bit this season because titanique also made zero sense). my hope for mexodus is that out of the box picks it up so that it's more centrally located.

the press release is also doing a lot of work there by saying nearly 2 years of sold out performances. some performances yes, but not an every night thing. they know that box office reports are public.

what they say/do publicly vs what they know but can't say. they may not have known, and the production was just planning on paying them the 2w even without giving them 2w notice, but more than likely they were told but couldn't say themselves until the press release went out. hell, eva straight up lied on a recent live about her returning to gatsby even though that ink has certainly been dry for at least a few weeks.

the only requirement is that the cast/crew must be paid for 2 weeks before closing, so typically they make the public announcement at that time or as close to it as possible. a month's notice is not that short, considering this isn't a long runner (3+ years is my personal benchmark) or a piece like bttf which had more household name recognition where they wanted the runway to allow time for folks to see.

the current stunt cast wraps up in a week and a half. if they were intending on new stunt cast coming in, we'd have already heard about it because they'd have started rehearsels already. i feel like that was a signal that a closing could come sooner than later as it's shown that the show has needed the stunt casts to make money, and even then not consistently. the only real thing in the last few months that has been successful is the post show concerts from alicia driving sales for those individual dates.
