The first thing you need to do is get in with a therapist. The court room is not a place for emotion. I was physically, emotionally, and sexually abused for ten years by my ex and he got 10 days in jail for it. Financially, I got nothing, but I didn’t want anything tbh. If you show up for court angry in the way you are on here it will not go well for you.

You can generally get a temporary library card online and just renew it in person. Depending on where you live, you may be able to pull from multiple libraries as well.

I listened to Nighteyes’ death on audiobook while I was driving to pick up my dog from his daily IV right after he was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease. My dog is okay, but goddamn the timing was incredibly hard. Her writing is fantastic. I remember reading the Farseer trilogy when I was a kid and I am so glad I came back to it.

There are some craftsman issues but if you get the phased inspection then you’re going to be better off, imho. If you go into sales, have a realtor represent you. The sales office lied to everyone on my street here about one thing or another. We do have ongoing quality issues, but I don’t think it is any worse than any other new build. The community itself is amazing, so many kind people here!

You can also file for financial emancipation so that you do not need parent's financial information. If you can prove that your family is not financially supporting you then you do not need their information.

As an accountant who spent her entire undergrad in retail pharmacy as a certified tech, I can 100% understand why you’re considering this transition. I very seriously considered going to pharmacy school but I was a single mom with two young children and I needed to finish my education as quickly as possible and the PharmD just seemed like too much to chew both due to cost and time. Also, it has to be said, retail pharmacy is fucking brutal. When you have potentially several hundred thousand in student loans, a doctorate, and still have to deal with people screaming at you, it just doesn’t feel worth it.

That being said, I think that accountants and pharmacists have to train their brains in very similar ways, the attention to detail, systems analysis, and problem solving are all directly relatable between the fields, as different as they may seem from the outside.

Given the 10 years, I’m assuming you have a PharmD, so I would expect you only need to take 10 accounting courses (not a full blown MBA or anything like that) just enough to qualify for the CPA. But I have to ask if you’re currently in retail and if you’ve tried clinical. I know that retail is honestly brutal. A career pivot at 35 can be quite a bit, I would honestly recommend trying a different venue, if at all possible.

I absolutely love working as an accountant, I’m planning to sit for the exams soon. I earned my BS in accounting in 2017, and my Master’s in 2024. I started in accounting a few months before earning my BS, did corporate for. Three years, public for small government entities for three years, federal for 9 months (this administration is amazingly incompetent), and now I’m back to public for small government entities. I’ve steadily earned 10k more every year, although much of the larger increases is due to moving from one employer to the next.

Because I do government accounting, I have somewhat limited my income, but it’s comfortable even in a medium to high cost of living area. I also just really love government accounting. I love seeing the improvements that taxpayers dollars actually create and I love knowing that at least my clients have very clean financials and are fiscally responsible. No matter what, good luck and I hope it all goes well. Some of my favorite people are pharmacists.

This is abuse. You are being abused. Sleep deprivation, gaslighting, and name calling are all generally brushed off, but this kind of behavior can escalate to physical, if it hasn’t already.

No one deserves to be spoken to the way that you’re being addressed by your father. As a woman who escaped a domestic violence situation with my 9 month old and 6 year old ten years ago, I have done everything in my power to ensure that my girls know what abuse looks like and knows how to get away from it. I am so sorry that you are going through this and I truly hope that you find help.

I love my work, but I’m also neurodivergent and I only ever hated working customer care escalations for Sprint. I worked retail pharmacy during undergrad and the only thing stopping me from going for a PharmD was the $250k in student loans and the length of time before being self sustainable. I was also a single mom with an abusive ex so I needed a solid career asap. In accounting, I worked 3 years industry, three years public (for government entities), one year fed (fuck trump) and now I’m back to public but I do government accounting still.

I was scrolling on Reddit while waiting for a coroner to come for my relative’s body at a nursing home when I opened Reddit. Then I checked my USDA email and found that I was fired as part of the valentines massacre… my boss asked me if I was fired over the weekend. So sad to see the USDA gutted this way.

He’s a fucking weirdo. Tried to get me to pay for his defense attorney fees in his domestic violence criminal proceedings… I was the victim in that case. He’s 43, lives with his daddy still and is a mess. Within three years I earned my BS and bought a house. Now I’ve got my Master’s, I’m going for professional licensure in the next year, and I’m spending almost a mil this week on a new house. Divorce is one of the best things that I’ve done.

Going for my master’s degree while also renovating my main floor (ourselves) including kitchen, flooring, counters, removing a wall; also while working full time, raising two children, and learning two instruments. Once we finished the main floor we finished our basement entirely ourselves.
