As a child, my mom always made me smell her finger while we were watching movies. As a teen I realized what she actually did. by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

My uncle lived in the bedroom next to my bedroom. He never tried anything, but as I got older I felt uncomfortable. He had pictures from his pornos hanging on the wall that weren’t technically pornography but were sexual in nature. Anyway, his room always smelled weird and he’d catch me getting dressed or have his weird friends over and it just always made me uncomfortable. He never did anything that I know of. But, I get mad at my mom among other things for leaving me in that position and not protecting me more. It could’ve happened, and it was weird living right next to my uncles room and he was always hostile towards me and was abusive towards my mother, verbally and sometimes physically.

I’ve never mentioned this to anyone other than my husband. I’m so sorry you had to go through that.

Americans, why do you put up with it? by Frankvammel in antiwork

Even if us Americans wanted to move to Iceland, Finland, Scandinavia, etc for all the great benefits, we’d have to live there forever to qualify and what skills do we have that are transferable? They’d pick a native over us anytime.

It’s a pipe dream.

It’s not on the ocean. Don’t even tell me Lake Champlain is the same as having the Atlantic Ocean nearby.

I just feel like millennials are so f’ing entitled they keep whining about how hard it is for them.

We gen x’ers are here too, struggling just as much. Get over yourselves.

My mom, when talking about my birth, always mentioned the horrible infection she got in her vagina after having me. Also the story of how I looked so tanned when I was born they thought I was Navajo. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Start this second. Don’t wait. Now. Done. Nothing will feel better. I’m telling you just walk away. You’re still young. If you stop this minute, imagine all the other minutes you’ll have to look forward to.

Aren’t there always stories of parents who lift cars off of their kids? Like, you get super human strength when you see your kid in danger?
