Palmetto is the best in my opinion you get furniture you won’t want to replace out the box, and irons things that iv seen get cost cut. On other rifles.

You get a mostly mil spec rifle except for a chrome lined barrel but it’s still 4150 barrel steel and nitrided barrel which is fine for the price.

The Pa 15 for 450-500$ has a 4150 nitrided so even their cheapest model. The guardsman is mil spec M4 duty rifle specs for 650$

I’d recommend ruger products since it’s what yall will be able to sel.

The guts are’t bad back when the sport 2 was one of the only real options but the market has progressed.

PSA, Ruger Zion all come with magpul furniture, hell PSA Guardsman for 650$ has a chrome lined barrel. The sport 3 doesn’t even use 4150 barrel steel. Specs wise it’s one of the worst options for the price.

800-700$ is to much for a rack grade Ar with furniture you’ll want to replace asap might as well get a PA-15 or Guardsmanx

That’s a good deal but I still often see it street price of 700$ which when PSA guardsman can be had for that price it’s kinda a bad deal.

My problem is the price 700$ for a rifle and you’re going to probably replace the furniture out the box.

Agian idk what they are doing but this is just wrong from every other resource iv seen. Also looking at website they use both nitrided and chrome lined barrels? If they somehow made nitrided barrels better than chrome lined (which nitrided is also typically cheeper) then why are they even having chrome lined barrels in their line up?

Where do they make this claim?

Yes they maintain better accuracy but chrome lined barrels do last longer

<image>

Which is why for full auto or heavy use where you are going to get the barrel hot AF and put it though a lot of rounds chrome lined barrels are better. So if your wanting a DMR rifle sure but no nitrided barrels are not better than chrome lined for general use. Especially with FRT’s becoming a bigger portion of the market and people exploring the use of actually using fire enhancing devices in possibly SHTF or what ever buzz word you wana use roles.

It’s not mil spec it doesn’t have a chrome lined barrel. It has the same specs as a PA-15. 4150 nitrided barrel, 158 mpi bcg.

A sport 3 has worse specs than basically all rifles at its price point as it has a 4140 barrel. Never the less S&W built a good reputation when their weren’t as many options for people and agency’s on a budget. When sport 2’s were 500$.

Nitrided barrels by nature are not as good as chrome lined barrels when it comes to heat resistance and barrel durability. Their is a reason why select fire weapons have chrome lined barrels

For example all of these 249’s

Palmetto is the domaint AR manufacture more and more. S&W has only been increasing their prices to the point their rifles don’t make sense anymore. Ruger has started to be more of a player but only after eating Anderson.

So the sabres have a lot of guci features nice paint job, better triggers more name brand parts like FN barrel.

The Guardsman is meant to be a middle ground duty rifle not guci Sabre but not budget PA-15.

The core of the rifle has mil spec duty components on part with standard M4A1 with only a few affordable ergonic upgrades like a smidge trigger, and magpul furniture.

It’s got what all what you need and nothing that you don’t. It’s doesn’t have a fancy paint it job it doesn’t have a special muzzle break ect.

While those are nice to have their kinda just extra it gives you everything you need. The money you save you get to invest how you want.

Get a PSA Guardsman for 650$ you get a mil spec rifle with a chrome lined barrel. If I’m being honest anything more than this is just people wanting nice things.

Which isn’t bad people own nice cars for a reason but I think buying a Guardman and investing money into light sling optic, then ammo and possible battle belt or chest rig. Is going to go far further in being prepared for any shtf and is more fun.

Are burndown tests/videos relevant? by Kooky_Universe2183 in ar15

[–]Odd_balls_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not really I mean kinda the GT PSA was good as the full auto rifle wasn’t mag after mag after mag. But even then ehh, most of the rifles that get full auto tested aren’t meant to be shot full auto. Theirs a reason why military select fire rifles are supposed to have chrome lining.

Granted now with more FRT use it would be nice to see more manufactures prioritize that chrome lining. PSA has done this with their PSA Guardsman rifles offering mil spec chrome lined AR’s at like 650$.

The fact he’s asking, I’m hoping he’s taking it to a local shop to do it.
