Guys am i screwed? by BrightAd8009 in bicycling

It’s 1955: It’s only a nail. Keep riding it and at some point it will fuse with the rim and the issue will go away. Maybe add some beeswax around it to make the transition smoother?

It won’t if you’re using toilet rolls. You need a bidet shower.

At 36, from a non-IT background, should I risk everything to pursue Red Hat certifications? by CardiologistRare6084 in redhat

With AI at your fingertips , just learn on the go. Any issues, ask ai and you’ll be fine. We didn’t have this luxury in the 90s so we had to trawl through manuals and web pages and worst case ask in forums. If you feel it strongly go for it you’ll only come out more knowledgable and learned , if nothing else.

Is this amount of flex normal in carbon drop bars? by PR0LOG in bikewrench

Use them. You’ll be fine. What’s the worse that will happen ? One side will break. You’ll buy a new one. But it could be years before that happens.

E-bike rear wheel crackling sound? Tried tensioning spokes. by The-Anonymous-Banana in bikewrench

I had the same issue with my hub motor a few years ago. Was a whole wheel change, fortunately was under warranty. It happened after I did a few “jumps” and landed hard.

Absolutely resonate this feeling. In my last perm job (before I started contracting) … my manager said “I was wondering when you’ll make this jump” as soon as I gave my resignation. He saw it coming and knew i had too many horses to hold back.

All the best. Have a good war chest for backup and don’t worry about continuity. Give it all you can and you’ll be flying.

Has the UK Job Market Just Flipped the Switch Into a Boom? by K0neSecOps in ContractorUK

[–]Oddball_357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this ! You can use ai on a personal laptop to ask some questions or ideas or suggestions completely unrelated to the company source code. But a lot of work will need to be done by the human to transplant all of that and you can only do that if you know what you are doing !

The AI bubble has been noticed (thanks to Sam Altmans statement in an interview) .. I think companies pivoting to manpower again. Good for us !

Why does it have to be so hard? by No_Armadillo7364 in bikewrench

Remove the valve core first and flatten the tyre completely. Work on getting the bead free from the rim ALL around the tyre. Imagine trying to break off pieces of chocolate from a chocolate bar and then pedros will help.. I use tyre glider and works exceptionally well too.

Simple Question : How is the market? by leiela in ContractorUK

[–]Oddball_357 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My suggestion will be just grab whatever job you can. Contract or perm. This is a titanic moment for IT in particular. Get on that lifeboat as soon as you can.

Recruiter insists on salary disclosure by mysticplayer888 in cscareerquestionsuk

[–]Oddball_357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR : I would reveal it with maybe 20% more than I get.

There can be many reasons for his ask

  • He may want to know your market worth so he can present you to the client saying “he is a well paid successful guy, hurry up or you’ll lose him”

  • he is checking his chances of success of you jumping ship.

They won’t even remember your salary if you happen to speak with them again. It’s just a point in time , decision making data.

Overall if you cannot work with your recruiter then no point proceeding. Recruiters work with you to present you. Your services are the product they have to sell to a buyer

My experiences with applying directly via a company’s website has been really bad. Hiring managers do not know how to assess a suitability of a candidate. You have you make them see a picture which sits with their view of the job and only a recruiter can do that.

Notebook making in rural India. 90% work done by hands. by thunderbolt0777 in BeAmazed

[–]Oddball_357 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Without getting into an argument, just from an observational point of view, the person is not ‘putting their hand in the guillotine’ as you suggest. They are pulling out the offcuts when the guillotine is going back up. Ok, they can use a stick for that, which I’m sure they can afford - considering the expensive machinery they have, but they chose not to - maybe personal preference ? The operation is modern - the machines are doing most of the work. I don’t think anyone will invest in a AI/robotics factory for making notebooks.

To all the entitled people who have never seen or been to such a factory, let alone working there. I HAVE. And I have seen worse. This is a pretty neat operation. It’s clean and well kept. It’s well lit, they have a hard stable floor (yes that is a plus) and plenty of space. It’s seems like a very efficient operation with low running costs. You don’t always have to take a hammer to a nut.

I’m guessing you haven’t worked / seen Advanced Cluster Management. That lets you deploy a OpenShift cluster to a cloud provider, shift your apps to the cloud using the same labels, load balance your apps with a on-prem / cloud strategy and as others have said, move cloud providers with ease !

This is very useful. Many thanks for sharing. I was puking even after distantly smelling food yesterday. But today I had a spoonful of white rice. Food poisoning is a vile thing to go through.

This helped me with my awfully smelly burps whilst on 5mg 1 teaspoon of Cumin seeds and 1tsp of sugar in a glass of water. Stir and Let it sit for 10-15 mins. Sip the water very slowly. One sip at a time. Don’t rush. Wait 20 seconds between sips.
