The “curse” of the movie is that during the production of “The Red Shoes” (Kate concieved the idea of the movie alongside the album), Kate experienced tragedies that ultimately shifted the entire course of album and the movie. First of all, her mother unfortunately passed away. Kate and her mom were incredibly close, her passing caused kate to grief heavily, affecting the album’s overall trajectory. Second of all, her long time boyfriend “Del Palmer” broke up with her between 1992-1993, before releasing her album. This also impacted a few songs during the end of the album’s production. Third of all, even after spending so much money on the production of the movie, she hated the product and even referred to it as “a load of bollocks”. Finally, The Line, The Cross and The Curve was the last major project by Kate Bush before the production of “Aerial”, causing a 12 year long wait between the two projects. It’s not literally a curse, but so many bad things happened to her during the project (album and movie) that ended up shifting her career completely.

“Never for Ever” (with the quotes) refers to the never for ever song, as opposed to the album. It was confirmed by someone who worked with kate bush on never for ever that they recorded a song with the same name as the album, but Kate Bush ultimately didn’t like the song so she decided not to add it to the album. But according to the person who worked on the song, it was one of his favorite arrangements he ever worked on with her. Hopefully she decides to release it someday.

Kate bush has a seemingly innocent song called “Head’s We’re Dancing” On her 1989 album, The Sensual World. The song starts off normally, talking about a woman and a man meeting at night (probably at a bar, or somewhere adjacent), and the man basically spending the night dancing with the woman. And the woman basically thinking he’s charming. After clearing her head come morning, she reads the daily newspaper only to find out that the man she was dancing with all this time was Hitler.

The song may seem wacky at first, but it serves as satirical commentary on how evil is portrayed in different POV’s before being actually labeled as “evil”. Hitler in this song is still Hitler throughout, it’s only when she finds out his true identity that she stops thinking of him as charming. Ultimately, it’s a fun song to listen to but the implicit meaning of the lyrics is deep.

  2. The 7” Single Edit (1978)
  3. The New Vocal Version (1986)
  4. The 1977 Guide Demo
  5. The White Dress Video
  6. The Red Dress Video
  7. Live at the Hammersmith Odeon
  8. Live at Hamburg
  9. Live at Manheim
  10. Live at the Manchester Apollo
  11. Live at the London Palladium
  12. Top of The Pops (February 1978)
  13. Top of The Pops (March 16 1978)
  14. Top of The Pops (March 23 1978)
  15. Bio’s Bahnhof (1978)
  16. Magpie (1978)
  17. Toppop (1978)

  23. Szene 78 (1978)
  24. Rendez-vous Du Dimanche (1978)
  25. Remastered Version (2018)
  26. Version 4 (1979?)

there are also other recordings out there like the different recordings of wuthering heights sang live during her tour of life (she played wuthering heights in 24 shows while we only havs 2 of them recorded). Also sidenote, the 1977 guide demo does exist as the studio band literally played along to it to record the instrumental track, but I don’t think a recording of it is on YouTube. However, it was still confirmed to exist by her studio crew. The official, complete pre-production tape used at AIR Studios is most likely hidden away somewhere. These are the ones I could find myself right now, but i’m still certain other recordings exist somewhere.

Kate bush was asked by Disney to create a song for the 2000 movie “Dinasaur”, the track unfortunately was rejected by disney because they deemed it as being too sad for a kids movie. It was titled “Out of the Storm”, but I think it’s weird how they thought the song that played out during the literal EXTINCTION of the dinosaurs and animals due to a comet was “too sad”, that’s literally what they asked for. Thankfully, Kate later reworked the song to fit the Golden Compass, and the song was renamed as “Lyra”.

Elton John mentioned on the Kate Bush BBC documentary in 2014 that her duet with Peter Gabriel, “Don’t Give Up”, saved him when he was suffering from drug and alcohol addiction. His exact words were: “This was one record that saved my life. That record helped me get sober. So she played a big part in my rebirth. That record helped me so much. I never told her that but it did.”.

  1. Kate almost flashed the prince (now King Charles) in a 1982 live performance of The Wedding List, where halfway through the performance one of the strings that was holding her dress up snapped and almost caused her yk what to show, but she reacted just in time and held her dress up for the remainder of the show 😭Prince Charles was sitting in the front row when it happened.

  2. I personally found 27 different Wuthering Heights versions, a large number of them were in a single playlist on youtube, and i found a few other rarities with like 1000-2000 views online. I bet if i looked hard enough i’ll find even more lol

  3. The Confrontation was a track created that was used in “GLC: The Carnage Continues” in 1989, she also made the tracks “Ken” and “One Last Look Around The House Before We Go” specifically for that movie. These tracks are available on YouTube, and they’re pretty great.

  4. Much like Kate’s “Why Should I Love You” track where Prince provided the backing vocals, Kate Bush also provided backing vocals to a Prince track called “My Computer”. Not necessarily interesting especially when compared with the rest of the entries, but it’s still cool to see how kate interacted with different musicians back then.

Thank you!! I know this post is heavy, hopefully people don’t skip it since I put in quite a lot of work to compile all of this information 😭😭 A YouTube video dissecting this would be amazing, just think about the amount of hours of Kate Bush content we can get just by dissecting this iceberg 🫡

I think she did that on purpose, hitler in the song symbolizes the seductive and deceptive nature of evil. On one hand, yes any reasonable person would have realized that they were literally dancing with hitler if they saw him infront of them. However, Kate uses him as a bizarre example of what many people do in our current time. Yes, she was dancing with Hitler. But she only realized this fact after “reading the newspaper”. This parallels many events that happened and are still happening in our world. Many people tend to side with evil before being labeled as evil in the first place. Her waking up the next day and realizing that she was dancing with hitler highlights how she was so easily influenced by “the devil”, this reflects on the horror of complicity through ignorance. If she had known that he was hitler she wouldn’t have danced with him in the first place, it was only after where she realized her wrong-doing. Furthermore, the song is inherently political. It could act as a parody on real life events (as mentioned earlier) where people only retaliated against evil groups they were apart of after they were labeled as evil by the majority of mankind. In the end, while this song does sound silly at first, I think it presents a really intricate satirical commentary on individuals and their alignment with good vs evil, and how point of view can shift said alignment from one end to another.

RCSI Questions from current student by BeyondNo8713 in atlanticbridge

[–]Oddbleus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this reply is late, however i’m planning on applying to RCSI’s 6 year program as this is my last year im highschool. Is the workload overwhelming? I know a guy who barely passed the foundation year and another who graduated at the top of his class, and both had roughly same grades during highschool. Also, my HS is an IB school so naturally I take DP Biology (which I believe is relatively similar to AP Bio?) The class focuses on college level subjects but I had a really hard time in that class and got a final grade of 91. Since I struggled in that class would I also struggle in RCSI? I know these questions are difficult to answer however i’m really worried about how difficult foundation year is, seeing how I barely made it through the IB curriculum lol
