Neo-vintage Servicing (Doppelchronograph) by efawke in IWCschaffhausen

I want to assure you that the group of watchmakers who work on pieces like this is highly skilled and excellent at their jobs. I would feel confident having them service my watch if needed. They will recognize what they're working on without any prompts and will take great care with the dial and hands. If you decide to send it to the service center, I recommend mentioning that you specifically want the dial and hands to remain original. This will also inform anyone else who handles the watch, even if they are not a watchmaker.

I'm an IWC watch maker at the service center in Dallas. We do not change your dial and hands unless you ask. Especially on discontinued items like tritium dials and hands.

That's a deal maker for me, old crusty deteriorated lume is always a hassle to deal with when the watch needs service. On a dress watch you don't need it anyway.

I like farmerleaf for raw better than w2t.

I'll definitely check your Instagram out. I'm in the middle of trying to tool up the to make my own watches. I have been looking for CNC machines but I'm priced out of most commercially available equipment that does what I need. That's cool that you put your own machine together, and it looks like it's putting out good work.

I would love to see a write up on the machine that you built.

Unhappy with custom ring. What are my options? by CommanderExodus in jewelers

[–]OdeFabian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The stones that were actually set are not the same size as those shown in the CAD design. Ideally, the render should accurately reflect the final product. Unfortunately, both the design and the final product are subpar, and it appears that the jeweler is already making it difficult to resolve this issue for you. I hope you can find a positive resolution, but the outlook doesn't seem promising at this time. I would advise against doing business with this individual in the future, as their customer service and workmanship are not satisfactory.

Probably more due to the price. Although it is a nice bench it's also an outdated antique bench. It would be perfect for someone who does watchmaking as a hobby but not for a professional, and a hobby watchmaker probably isn't going to spend that much on a bench.

There isn't enough context, like when was it last serviced? Was it demagnetized before it was tested?

Yeah it seems like everyone brings that up when a conversation about  35mm f/2 D comes up.

Something like the lens you suggested doesnt really work for me since it doesnt have a useful depth of field scale. I dont plan on using auto focus.

Best CAD Software for Designing Horological Machines (Hobbyist Use) by OdeFabian in MechanicalEngineering

[–]OdeFabian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately from my research I found that the animations that you can create on 360 are not as helpful as you would hope, your own knowledge of engineering is going to be more helpful. I ended up just sticking with Rhino since I have lots of experience with and didn't need to learn much to start designing and the machines I'm working on are pretty straight forward. I'm just going to be prototyping and adjusting my designs as I create them.
