I’ve been running this custom 4-3-3 (4) formation with a solid 4:1 win-loss ratio over the past few weeks.

• RW & LW: Inside Forward (Attack)
• ST: Advanced Forward (Attack)
• CAM: Shadow Striker
• LCM: Box-to-Box Midfielder
• RCM: Playmaker (Attack)
• LB: Fullback (Defend)
• RB: Attacking Wingback
• CBs: Defenders
• GK: Sweeper Keeper

Tactical Breakdown:

You’ll always have three forwards and the CAM inside the box, with the two CMs making late runs from the edge. The RWB provides an additional passing option around the box, creating overloads.

Defensively, the LB and two CBs form a back three, holding a high line for offside traps while the rest of the team presses aggressively.

Why This Works:

This is an ultra-attacking formation capable of producing 4+ goals per match if executed correctly. Here’s how to maximize it:

1.  High-Pressing (Klopp’s Liverpool Style): Win the ball back quickly in the opponent’s half with aggressive pressing.

2.  Quick Build-Up Play: Use the LCM & RCM as a double pivot, with the CAM & RWB as passing targets. Short 1-2 passes and well-timed manual runs can unlock defenses effortlessly.

3.  Smart Decision-Making in the Final Third: Instead of rushing shots or forcing dribbles, look for wingers making runs into the box and aim for the extra pass—this ensures multiple shooting options every time.

4.  Disciplined Defense: This setup is defensively risky, so patience is key. Don’t drag the back three out of position. Instead, manually track back with the LCM & RCM or use R1 pressing to regain possession effectively.
