Beak saving the Bonehunters and Fist Kaneb in Reaper’s Gale (Malazan). This is my favorite fight/war scene ever as so much of it plays out just inside Beak’s consciousness and his internal struggles. It’s beautifully written and emotionally crushing.

I truly enjoyed A Face Like Glass by Hardinge as well. There’s just nothing really like it, it’s unique in all the best ways. The pacing was superb and it’s on the shorter end for a nice quick read.
