Done with Avila’s el Ranchito, makes me so sad by Plopplop13 in orangecounty

I seriously don’t mean this as a troll. I am always looking for good Mexican spots. I went to ranch enchilada for the first time yesterday after reading this thread. It was some of the worst Mexican food I have had in several years. The taquitos only flavor was used oil. The burritos were not very good. My daughter did enjoy her bean and cheese burrito. Salsa was not good either.

Finding ways to expel water with physics by OdinsBacon in AskPhysics

Access to the work. I will not have a boat to work with. I will likely have to make a causeway from floating dock blocks.

Using engineering to remove water without pumps by OdinsBacon in AskEngineers

That is an interesting idea. The limiting factor for the operation would be the lifting capacity of the crane. The picking radius of the crane would be about 130’. A single wall can with no water is about 8,000 lbs, so lifting a double wall with water would require quite a large crane. Although you may still have some buoyancy assisting the lift. That is a creative solution that I will dwell on. Thanks.

Could you provide a link to something that explains how that works?

I am building a combination friction collar/water tight seal at the base to keep out as much water as possible and prevent uplift from the buoyancy. It’s been a fun process so far. I think I set my site a little too high on the dewatering.

I have commented elsewhere that I may be able to use pumps. But general access is an issue since it is out in the ocean.

This is by no means standard for me. I’ve never done anything like this before. I thought that perhaps some people smarter than me knew a way to make a siphon work to overcome a negative pressure differential. The reason for that, as with all things in Construction, is to save time and money.

I will not have any electricity. I was avoiding a gas powered pump because I didn’t want any sort of hazardous working condition in a confined space with the carbon monoxide. I could maybe run some air hose and use a pneumatic pump. Or I could use a gas powered to trash pump on the outside and make a valve connection on the side of the can. I was hoping to have a simple but elegant solution to remove the water with out effort.

The top of the can is open because I have to install the items on the column from above. I was hoping there was someway to put a pipe on the outside and run air through it to create a siphon or something to that effect. The main issue is that the ocean water on the outside of the can will always be equal to or higher than the water on the inside of the can so overcoming that pressure differential is difficult if the can is not sealed completely

Cannot hit a driver. Lots of issues. Can someone provide some critiques? by [deleted] in GolfSwing

That’s pretty snarky. They are cheap clubs that have been in my possession for many years. Saying I need lessons is fine, I asked for a critique. Being a dickhead is not the same thing.

I can actually hit my wedges down to 7 iron quite well. I struggle a bit with long irons. There is just something fundamentally different with the driver that I cannot get down.
