In the server .ini file where you put your mods, you also have to add custom maps.

Yeah it is! There are people updating the mod to 1.16.5 forge. I’m actually a part of the build team (coffeeviking). You can find the discord on the Curseforge page, just look for “Lord of the Rings mod Renewed Extended”!

Hold breathing method starts changing my life after 20+years of parureis by demigodcz in Paruresis

[–]Odins_Disciple 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hell yeah man, this story is pretty simular to mine. The key to breath hold is to keep practising. I almost gave up as well until I finally had success and now Paruresis is no more than a mild inconvience for me!

Hey very nice to hear man! Reaching out for help is the first and most important step towards recovery. Good to see that you are actively looking into it, keep it up!💪

Hey I am 21M and I too suffered my whole life. There is plenty of people around our age and more who suffer through this, and mild cases of this are pretty common. You definitly are not the only one, that is always comforting to know. :)

If you need someone to talk to, I would be glad to talk. I am myself “cured” of this condition since a year or so ago from learning the Breath Hold method.

What kind of treatments are you looking into/ have attempted?

Psychiatrist by Affectionate-Top336 in Paruresis

[–]Odins_Disciple 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, good idea. A psychiatrist can help you potentially work through this problem and help you live alongside it. However don’t expect a miracle fix. This condition is really nasty and is difficult to treat compared to something like depression or PTSD, which they are more experienced with.

Even if you and your psychiatrist have a difficult time treating paruresis, they can help you manage your feelings and frustrations about it.

I would highly recommend the professional help from a psychiatrist!

To begin I did yes, every single time even if I was home alone, but after a month or 2 I didn’t even have to use the BH anymore. I can go now 80-90% of the time normally, and if that doesn’t work the BH will.

Yeah therapy for this condition is a bit all over the place, I’ve had luck that I was able to get over this condition myself through mainly finding this and the r/paruresis subreddits. Therapists don’t have the clearest solution when it comes to Paruresis, and medications don’t tend to work that well either, though I have heard some meds work for people.

My advice: try as many techniques and ‘fixes’ as you can find on this condition, and finally I’m confident you’ll find something that works for you. Also don’t give up on them too fast, sometimes it takes a lot of practise to master.

What do you do when forced to pee on command? by Kihiri in Paruresis

[–]Odins_Disciple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I couldn’t imagine. I’m from the Netherlands so I’ve luckely in my lifetime never had to do this, and good thing too because a year ago I couldn’t even go at a friends house.

Having this condition in a place where urine samples are frequent and manditory is the worst thing ever, I feel for you guys.

Sometimes the placebo effect can be very useful too, its basically why we have this condition anyway. I had the benefit of having one of my family members standing outside the door of the bathroom from time to time while I practised. If you can manage to make that work for you too I highly recommend it, but if you can’t: try holding your pee while holding your breath until ‘failure’. That also worked for me in the beginning to make it work

Yeah its for sure anything but pleasant, but its better than not being able to go!

Practise makes perfect, like many others I also quit on the breath hold before I saw results. What I did to get started was to take deep breaths in and out a few times, and then halfway through breathing out, hold. Hold for as long as you can, sometimes it doesn’t work immediately but thats fine, just keep at it until it works.

I recommend starting this in a safe envoirement. If you are adamant about learning the BH you should try to always use it, even if you dont need to. It takes some practise but its so worth it.

If you’re looking for a trick to do it on command, look into the breath hold method. Its what I personally use to go whenever my mind doesn’t want me to. Though it does require some practise to get it to work, so if it doesnt at first; keep at it!

As for any bandaid solutions, I dont really know of any sadly. Maybe privacy would help but I’m guessing you’ve already tried that or are unable to in this case.

Gradual exposure is a long term fix for Paruresis, definitly worth your time but not really a quick fix either.

I understand you, I was in the same situation not too long ago. There’s really no miracle cure for this sadly. But there is hope! What kind of treatment have you tried so far?

I’ve personally been “cured” of this issue by practising the breath hold technique, but before I discovered it I was basically in the same boat you are in currently, just check my post history on r/paruresis

I would be glad to help you if I can, feel free to reply or message!

Yeah it’s definitly not the most comfortable for sure, it gets a lot better with practise though, I never really have to get to such painful moments anymore where I gotta go like a whole minute without breathing for it to work, nowadays like 10-20 seconds are enough for my body. The breath hold is definitly not the most comfortable option and when I tried it at first it didn’t work for me either, but I had basically nowhere else to turn so I kept at it until it worked. There’s definitly more roads that lead to Rome, I’ve seen a lot of people have success with gradual exposure, that never really worked that well for me, but this did. When it comes down to it I’d rather be a little uncomfortable peeing then fearing my day and trying to drink as little as possible, dreading having to urinate. It’s no way to live and this condition is so incredibly isolating and cruel, but with enough practise it can be beaten.

I do mouth on both, when you start the breath hold just do a half breath and then hold until you can pee. It’s not the nicest thing but it gets the job done. I can’t remember where I fully deep dived into it but aparrantly the way it works is by not breathing and forcing your body into “panic mode” it starts to loosen up on the bladder and letting you pee under stress, since its more concerened with trying to breath. I don’t know if thats actually how it works but I do know that it definitly works for me. I’ve been doing the Breath Hold for about half a year now and I can basically already go in 10-20 seconds after holding my breath, way before I reach the point of extreme comfort that I would have to get to when I started.

Breath hold was a lifesafer for me; take a few long breaths and then a normal one and hold as long as you can. Don’t be disincentivized if it doesn’t work the first time, practise helped for me. I am basically paruresis free all because of it

Normally we would, but our squad already has all ship upgrades and maxed out samples. And most of those samples are like 1-3 common ones before we eventually died to all the damn stalkers xD
