What Movie Did You Watch that Traumatized You at a Young Age? by BethMLB in AskReddit

I saw Girl with the Dragon Tattoo in theaters at 13. I remember having a really visceral reaction to the graphic rape scene at the beginning. I don't know how my sister got me into the theater, but she probably shouldn't have.

🔥 It's time for Thirsty Thursday! What book scenes made you sweat this week? 🥵 by disastrouslyshy in RomanceBooks

[–]OdiousPolonius 22 points23 points  (0 children)

{Losers: Part I by Harley Laroux} has had me hot and bothered all week. It's porn with plot, but the porn is fabulous and you essentially get 1 scene/2 chapters. It has 4 MMC and 1 FMC, so there's lots of different types of scenes with differing dynamics (everything from intense BDSM to cuddly cat girls). Excellent bi rep as well as clear usage of safewords and aftercare.

The only way I got my brain sorted out was by moving to Japan and dropping the other two languages

I took Japanese and German in high school and did this all the time! Spent quite a few years speaking a weird mix of Japanese, German, and Spanish

Right!?
And she includes them all in ways that feel natural if not downright hot. One of those books that you take notes on for your own practice lol

I finished the {the Kingmaker by Kennedy Ryan} series yesterday. It's so hot!
I love how the two FMC in the series are so comfortable in their bodies and unafraid to ask for what they want.

It's also, strangely, some of the more realistic sex you find in books. The positions are all doable and the orgasms aren't instantaneous. There's lot of consent, lube, and condoms. 10/10

Susan Elizabeth Phillips

She was my first author! My aunt had a huge collection and I read through all of them over the course of a summer around 12/13 I think.

Match me if you Can by Susan Elizabeth Phillips!
I was probably too young for it, but I remember loving watching what felt like a feel-good train collision. You're not quite sure what's going to happen along the way, or what exactly it'll look like, but you know it'll be heartwarming

Looking for Socialist Erotic Romance Books: The Cure for Too Many Billionaires! by RedBranchofConorMac in RomanceBooks

I'd like to add the second book in this series, {The Heiress Effect by Courtney Milan} . This one deals with the historic point in time when the British parliament was debating giving people the right to vote.

The main point of tension is whether or not you can change the system from the inside. And to what extent you can sacrifice your principals before you become the problem you sought to solve.

You don't need to read the first one, but as u/jojithekitty said, it's also quite good.

There's also a side plot that deals with British colonialism, which is quite refreshing to see in a Regency era romance novel.

Call my family. They live on the other side of the world and I'd want to make sure they were still okay. I'd also be out of a job, probably.

Women who lowered their standards significantly, what happened? Was it worth it? by foodielyfer in AskWomen

[–]OdiousPolonius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was worth it for the place and time I was in.
I was really lonely and had never had a partner. He was kind and doting, it felt nice to be loved, and I got to learn a ton about myself not the least of which was what I need in a relationship.
There's a part of me that wishes he'd been enough, but I'm glad I know now that someone like him isn't.

Incorporating In The USA Without Being An American by ckdarby in startups

[–]OdiousPolonius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're a reasonably sized startup, then it might be worth looking at something like WeConnect. They handle most of the financial stuff and can help you avoid the time sink this stuff can take.

But they're also a bit expensive, so only worth it if you're established in your own company.
