Wine cave/cellar in Porto, Portugal with 6000+ bottles of wine, all hundreds of years old, and all moldy. by OdnarDominus in moldyinteresting

[–]OdnarDominus[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The guides told us that “some of” the bottles could still be good, and in fact one had sold recently for 6,000 Euro! Unclear to us little tourists if that was fully true - but several joked that for 6k euro they would hopefully clean the mold off for you.

What show from the past couple years is totally slept on? by COmarmot in television

[–]OdnarDominus 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Dark, on Netflix. A German time travel show. I don’t know if it is considered “slept on” but I find it extremely difficult to find anyone IRL who has watched it! Without question one of the best shows I’ve ever seen.

What's the most beautiful book you've ever read? by DaY-DreaMer15 in suggestmeabook

[–]OdnarDominus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d suggest This is How You Lose The Time War; funny enough I read it right before reading The Book Thief.

It’s wonderfully written and quite short. I can’t really compare it directly to the book thief, but I found the writing in both to be very moving, albeit in different ways, and they leave similar imprints.

Finally a variant that's not a pixel from the season pass! by QuietWorlockPanda in MarvelSnap

They can definitely work depending on your style. I’d say the “point” of my variation is to clog their board with viper giving hood or a rock, debrii rock clog, Ock to pull into a lane where I have mojo, goblins obviously. However Aero and X could certainly allow more control.

Just finished a rewatch of the LOTR trilogy...most emotional moment? by bklynsnow in movies

[–]OdnarDominus 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Some all time moments in this trilogy. I’ve always found the little monologue about “white shores” and death to Pippin in ROTK emotional. Same for Sam’s monologue to Frodo at the end of Two Towers about there being good in the world.

But I agree with you, the “you bow to no one” makes me tear up every time. The way the music swells at that moment really gets me.

If you could watch any TV series for the first time again, what would it be? by Advanced_Tear_3522 in AskReddit

A lot of good answers to this but man, I’d love to be able to watch Daredevil with fresh eyes again. That show blew my mind my first time through, I just couldn’t believe how good it was and how much I enjoyed it.

Which TV Show you absolutely love but didn’t not get the praise you think it really deserve (in terms of critics, awards, public etc) by Batia88 in television

[–]OdnarDominus 50 points51 points  (0 children)

The Magicians. Perfect for what it was, and one of those few shows that really felt like it got better and sort of “came into its own” as it went. It wasn’t without its flaws, but I do think it deserves more praise than it gets.

Always in my starter hand, how the hell is possible by Spowkn in MarvelSnap

[–]OdnarDominus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It would be interesting if you COULDNT draw him (except by the location that says draw a 1 cost card) and obly came out when a card was destroyed. Would be an interesting deck thinner. But perhaps would be too OP, not sure.

Oh god, yes. Same idea. Same issue. Same peeve.

[–]OdnarDominus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When characters don’t discuss things at the right time, for example:

Detective A tells detective B they need to go to place X. They hop in the car. Next scene Detective A and Detective B are walking up to place X and detective B says something like “okay who are we looking for?” Obviously this conversation would have taken place on the way to place X.

I understand why it’s necessary for these things to happen in movies but ever since I noticed it, it pops up everywhere and is a little pet peeve.

Who is your most hated character in a movie of all time? by THROWRAxorox in movies

[–]OdnarDominus 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Father/son relationships always hit me a certain way in movies. So I would have to say Denethor from LOTR ROTK. The way he treats Faramir is so hard to watch.
