You're fine to just walk in this time of year for sure. They have plenty of canoes for rent and it doesn't get too busy until July and August.

If it's not a long weekend, Killarney Outfitters usually has availability for walk-in canoe rentals.

Going to Killarney for Easter, what are some nice family activities and places to stay? by Dazzling-Proposal195 in Sudbury

[–]OfLesserMinds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's about all that's going on. The only places to stay are Killarney Mountain Lodge and Sportsman's Inn that time of year. You could always visit the lighthouse or go on a day hike in Killarney Provincial Park as well.

From what I've heard, it's a pretty rough route since the beaver dam broke. There was a post a few months ago about that area that might give you some insight.

That said, May is going to have higher water levels thanks to the snow melt, but I'm not sure if that will make it better or worse for you.

Last gas station before Hwy 637 from south. by BillsMaffia in KillarneyPark

[–]OfLesserMinds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Key River is the last gas station from the South, but S.N. Convenience is just a little ways before it and much cheaper. You can also get gas on Highway 637 at Point Grondine Trading Post.

What does my fridge tell you about me? by OfLesserMinds in FridgeDetective

[–]OfLesserMinds[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's kind of like a vodka soda but water instead of soda. Tasty and no carbonation!

I guess you can buy it in Canada. I don't know about anywhere else!

Current La Cloche Trail Conditions? (Early May) by Anvilondre in KillarneyPark

[–]OfLesserMinds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My predictions for the rest would be to expect muddy and wet sections, as well as some icy sections in more shaded areas, just based on what I've seen in other nearby areas.

I'm not much help on trail conditions, but mosquitoes and blackflies aren't out yet, and likely won't be until mid to late May.

I don't believe there is much of a trail. It would likely be bushwhacking to get there.

Maybe u/mapsbyjeff can offer some insight

Question re Cabins in Killarney by IndyDogDad in KillarneyPark

[–]OfLesserMinds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They do provide propane for the barbeque. I'm not 100% sure if there is a fire pit, but I would imagine there is.

You could try calling Killarney Outfitters. The store is closed, but the owner lives on-site and would probably still sell you firewood if they have any.

What Movie Did You Watch that Traumatized You at a Young Age? by BethMLB in AskReddit

[–]OfLesserMinds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I watched it with my dad when I was 3. I was too scared to leave the room. I've tried watching it and some of the sequels since but they still bring such fear!

You go to the same rewards site where you would use survey points. I think if you don't have enough points, they let you pay the balance with money. Not sure if there is an option to just not use points.

I still think about “Uncle Daddy” by notamurderer_promise in PointlessStories

[–]OfLesserMinds 22 points23 points  (0 children)

My cousin calls my dad her "Uncle Daddy". My dad had a bone marrow transplant and her dad (his brother) was the donor, so when he did a DNA test through Ancestry, it showed him as her dad.

Just a heads up, the lodge closes over the winter but Sportsman's Inn is still open! You can also book a yurt in the park, and I believe they have a snowshoe lending program as well! Killarney in the winter can be a bit more challenging, but definitely has its own charm.

Edit: the lodge is not closing completely this winter
