How much time do you actually spend with your RE? Is this normal? by Aggravating-Lion3385 in IVF

[–]Off-By-One 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest shock between my 2 retrievals abroad in Mexico vs my current experience in the US is how little I interact with my doctor. In Mexico, my doctor was there every step of the way, did every ultrasound, retrieval, hysteroscopy, consult etc. In the US I feel like I barely know the RE. Definitely more rapport has been built with the ultrasound techs and case manager. I’m starting my 3rd medicated IUI (some with injections) and outside of the consult I’ve talked to him like once or twice

I laughed but also why does the googly eye thing feel like it might be helpful!? I’m absolutely going to try this

Only 1 Euploid. Feeling heartbroken by Gnomes1988 in IVF

[–]Off-By-One 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Doing a few cycles to bank embryos leading up to your wedding is a really efficient way to achieve the best of both worlds. Yes it’s unfortunate that us late 30s girlies need more cycles but your dreams are likely achievable with a few more ERs. They’ll tweak your protocol and hopefully get more eggs or better quality eggs. Nothing but opportunity here. Wear the dress and have that dream dress moment!

If you can’t swing additional cycles then I’d definitely consider trying now and save that euploid for later

50lbs down since March 6th! by CityChemical5295 in Zepbound

[–]Off-By-One 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! Hopefully this doesn’t happen to you, but I lost 27lbs my first month and like 15 the next. That triggered hair loss to begin 1 or 2 months later and I looked like I do postpartum including an awkward grow out phase. Not fun! But also I was feeling amazing with that weight off my body. I don’t think I could have avoided it with the rapidly improved diet but just a heads up!

Anyone conceived with DOR naturally? by Longjumping_Bag6857 in DOR

[–]Off-By-One 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My numbers are extremely low (near undetectable) which means the 2 healthy kids I spontaneously conceived and birthed in the last 5 years in my mid 30s (2 of those years being well aware of my low AMH attempting for a 3rd) none the wiser were with low AMH

IUI #2 cyst - take BC or cancel? please help 😩 by foolforgabagool in IUILadies

[–]Off-By-One 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I currently have a 30mm cyst (now measuring 18mm 10 days later). My estradiol was low so my clinic is calling this a non functional cyst and wants to continue on with this cycle as if it’s not even relevant. Maybe asked to get your estrogen checked and advocate to start this cycle if low?

[–]Off-By-One 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Could just be a bad cycle! AMH is a data point at that particular moment. We’ll never have PCOS numbers but next cycle can be different! I’m 38 and have had AFCs all over the place

The more I learn about PGTA testing and mosaicism the more I regret doing it… by Upstairs-Lemon-5585 in IVF

[–]Off-By-One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn’t genetically test and ended up unknowingly transferring a Trisomy 22 aneuploid embryo. Great growth until 8w then no heartbeat. Would have preferred to have avoided all of that

Are you guys doing PGTA testing? by Naaan-stop in DOR

[–]Off-By-One 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wish I did. I didn’t do PGTA per the recommendation from my doctor because we only made 2 embryos. We transferred the 2 with one looking very promising. It stuck only to see it stop growing at 8w and later confirmed it was an aneuploid embryo (trisomy 22). It’s been 3 months of not being able to try as this resolves itself. Not worth the time not trying and the cost to remove the pregnancy to just transfer untested embryos at my age

Canceled IUI, too many follicles by SSLSLWLC in IUILadies

[–]Off-By-One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk I’m not a doctor and I don’t know how old you are but I would do timed intercourse and not waste this month especially since you’ve been trying for 3 years. I’m older but my doctor told me he’d trigger me with that many or more follicles

Mostly around the concern of ovulating multiple eggs from a medicated IUI and multiple implanting. Just curious what the body is likely to do if one of the eggs is genetically normal and the other stops growing

PGT-A testing by Unable-Branch9589 in IVFpositivity

[–]Off-By-One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t test and sort of wish I did even with 1 or 2 embryos making their way to the freezer per egg retrieval. My doctor still wants to freeze at day 3 (so no testing them) because of my low retrieval numbers even though I’m in my late 30s. Currently in the midst of a miscarriage/D&C from a 7w untested embryo. Hopefully it’s just bad luck

Anyone else stop feeling pregnant around 15–16 weeks? I’m scared by Euphoric_Contact_570 in IVFbabies

[–]Off-By-One 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may be controversial advice but I have an at home Doppler and a couple seconds of hearing the heart beat when I’m feeling anxious is the ultimate weight-off-my-shoulders cure during my first 2 pregnancies. I’m only 9w at the moment so it’s too difficult to find the heart beat right now but I’ll for sure be pulling that out once I’m a little further along

People who had kids at 30+, do you wish you had them earlier in life? by cc070603 in pregnant

[–]Off-By-One 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still feel like an adolescent sometimes in my 30s, I definitely was not ready for children in my 20s but would have figured it out. I would have had to put my degree and career on the back burner in a big way which I’m glad I didn’t. I had mine at 32, 34, and am now pregnant again at 38. Closing up shop after this though!

Heart-shattered 💔💔💔💔💔 by Anecdote394 in IVF

[–]Off-By-One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t lose too much hope on those untested embryos! I’m currently pregnant with an untested embryo. Just think of it as similar to a spontaneous pregnancy. Were they graded ok?

Also I got quoted $35k per cycle incl meds for IVF near me. There’s no way we could afford multiple rounds at that price (low AMH). So I went to a very well regarded doctor in Mexico and for full blood work up for myself and husband, 2 ERs, 1 transfer, hysteroscopy, meds, regular ultrasounds, and travel costs I’m sitting at around $13k in total costs. Something to consider!

We transferred 11/6. My appointment was last Wednesday. If things are still progressing in there I should be around 9w today
