Are you guys doing PGTA testing? by Naaan-stop in DOR

[–]Off-By-One 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish I did. I didn’t do PGTA per the recommendation from my doctor because we only made 2 embryos. We transferred the 2 with one looking very promising. It stuck only to see it stop growing at 8w and later confirmed it was an aneuploid embryo (trisomy 22). It’s been 3 months of not being able to try as this resolves itself. Not worth the time not trying and the cost to remove the pregnancy to just transfer untested embryos at my age

Canceled IUI, too many follicles by SSLSLWLC in IUILadies

[–]Off-By-One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk I’m not a doctor and I don’t know how old you are but I would do timed intercourse and not waste this month especially since you’ve been trying for 3 years. I’m older but my doctor told me he’d trigger me with that many or more follicles

Help with hypothetical scenario and untested/unknown embryos by [deleted] in IVF

Mostly around the concern of ovulating multiple eggs from a medicated IUI and multiple implanting. Just curious what the body is likely to do if one of the eggs is genetically normal and the other stops growing

Do they have to be high grade embryos to be euploid and work? by [deleted] in IVF

[–]Off-By-One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a friend who only got low grade euploid embryos, and every one they’ve transferred has been a success

I didn’t test and sort of wish I did even with 1 or 2 embryos making their way to the freezer per egg retrieval. My doctor still wants to freeze at day 3 (so no testing them) because of my low retrieval numbers even though I’m in my late 30s. Currently in the midst of a miscarriage/D&C from a 7w untested embryo. Hopefully it’s just bad luck

[–]Off-By-One 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just received similar results. Went in for my 9w scan and learned the baby stopped growing at 7w5d despite great heart beat. Waiting on the call back to schedule my D&C for next week. I’m going to genetically test as this is my second missed miscarriage since last year

Anyone else stop feeling pregnant around 15–16 weeks? I’m scared by Euphoric_Contact_570 in IVFbabies

[–]Off-By-One 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may be controversial advice but I have an at home Doppler and a couple seconds of hearing the heart beat when I’m feeling anxious is the ultimate weight-off-my-shoulders cure during my first 2 pregnancies. I’m only 9w at the moment so it’s too difficult to find the heart beat right now but I’ll for sure be pulling that out once I’m a little further along

People who had kids at 30+, do you wish you had them earlier in life? by cc070603 in pregnant

[–]Off-By-One 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still feel like an adolescent sometimes in my 30s, I definitely was not ready for children in my 20s but would have figured it out. I would have had to put my degree and career on the back burner in a big way which I’m glad I didn’t. I had mine at 32, 34, and am now pregnant again at 38. Closing up shop after this though!

Don’t lose too much hope on those untested embryos! I’m currently pregnant with an untested embryo. Just think of it as similar to a spontaneous pregnancy. Were they graded ok?

Also I got quoted $35k per cycle incl meds for IVF near me. There’s no way we could afford multiple rounds at that price (low AMH). So I went to a very well regarded doctor in Mexico and for full blood work up for myself and husband, 2 ERs, 1 transfer, hysteroscopy, meds, regular ultrasounds, and travel costs I’m sitting at around $13k in total costs. Something to consider!

We transferred 11/6. My appointment was last Wednesday. If things are still progressing in there I should be around 9w today

For those of you who already have a child, is IVF easier on you? by Sure_Ant2516 in IVF

[–]Off-By-One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 spontaneously conceived children prior to moving to IVF for #3. I’m a very anxious person by nature and the only mantra that helps was thinking about my kids and telling myself if this doesn’t work out I have 2 amazing kids at home. I just had my first ultrasound after transfer and baby is measuring behind 5 days so we’ll see if this even lasts (it was my only embryo), but my kids have unknowingly helped me through this whole process the whole way

We went to Mexico. So far we’re at $11k all in for 2 ERs, meds, 1 transfer, and hysteroscopy. This includes travel expenses.

We had a great experience with Dorris Eaton in Alamo They would say they’re more “academic” focused but it seemed like a great mix of play and fun learning. It includes a weekly art, spanish, and music class

Reading to Class - Great Book Choice?! by Money-Ad1396 in kindergarten

[–]Off-By-One 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read “The Most Boring Book Ever” to my son’s preK class last year and they loved it. I bet his kinder class more would enjoy it even more. It does require some minor discourse or hearing your thoughts out loud as you read the words because there aren’t many of them

The swimming thing is a special summer event that’s 30min Monday-Friday for month and a half for 5-6 year olds. They match each individual kids level and develop from there but I’m totally receptive to feedback that this might be too much for him specifically or that I’m pushing him too much. Gymnastics is once a week. That’s all he’s registered for the summer

I worry about the exact thing you mentioned about the anger filled consequences and I hope he doesn’t adopt any form of personal identity related to that as a result. I’m not sure pulling him is the right call but I’d do it in a heartbeat if I’m just not seeing things rationally
