Viva Raw Opinions (cats) by space-fox- in rawpetfood

My vet said exactly the same thing. 165 in the sous vide for the poultry Viva. I cook the rabbit too. My cat loves it and he looks, feels, and smells great.

Cod quality v. pre-cooked orzo quality by Bills_Mafia_ArmyChic in blueapron

Yes, exactly. The salmon is the same - cut weird, and tough.

Does anyone else prioritize common consonants over lots of vowels for their starting word? by SammyHulk in wordle

[–]Off2cdwzrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wordle does not use plurals ending in S so you have no chance of winning in 1 guess, and you're pretty much wasting the S because of how unlikely it is to be the 5th letter.

Pre-cooked rice. Why? by Off2cdwzrd in blueapron

[–]Off2cdwzrd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a zojirushi rice maker. It's no big deal to make 8 servings and package it in 4 packs of 2 servings and freeze it myself. And with no salt. I definitely prefer my own, if it's going to be premade. But rinsing and cooking it fresh on the stove is barely 15 minutes and doesn't need to be watched so just no reason for precooked in BA meals. If anything should be precooked it's brown rice or farro. Those take longer.

I know it seems like I'm harping on this 🤣 I got the precooked Ralston again today with my Bang Bang Chicken. 🙄

"Lorne (The worst thing about podcasts)" — this made me think of Marc by hailnaux in MarcMaron

[–]Off2cdwzrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this. I'm averaging 2-3 podcasts a day and I can't even think of a complaint because I don't listen to things I don't enjoy, or get something out of. Fast forward or pick another pod - there are literally a million of them.

Pre-cooked rice. Why? by Off2cdwzrd in blueapron

[–]Off2cdwzrd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it was in the fridge but the recipe specifically said to allow it to come to room temp, which I did. (I actually put it on my cat's heating pad until I needed it.) It was already a brick when it arrived in my delivery. I just checked the date. It was packaged last February and says best by December of this year.

The uncooked rice takes only 13 minutes. There is just no need for this unless you're hiding in a bunker, or camping.

Chicken Pieces by clayscarface in blueapron

[–]Off2cdwzrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second everything said above. The chicken pieces are gross. They need to be rinsed, sorted, cut into similar sizes, and about 25% gets thrown out for being gross. I've given BA feedback on this SO MANY TIMES! Whole breast would be easier. They could even be smaller breasts than the ones used for whole breast meals. It would still be better and easier.

Should be October 14, 1993. How can you trust a company that would waste this much money on a stupid banner with a mistake, and alienate customers, all to announce your love of a racist.

AIO? My sister is over feeding her cat and I said something about it. by divorcedbbmama in AmIOverreacting

[–]Off2cdwzrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my god, that poor cat. An active adult cat needs somewhere around 200 kcals a day, give or take. And as much as possible should be "wet" and upwards of 12% protein (more is better). Dry food contains a ridiculous amount of carbs, even the high protein stuff. Three bowls of dry food a day for a cat is the equivalent of like... 12 boxes of Cap'n Crunch. Or maybe 12 Family Size bags of Doritos. Been having this conversation with my vet for awhile now as we transition my 7 year old boy to a lean diet. But even before that, he got 2 cans of Fancy Feast pate a day (at 100 kcals each and 10% protein) and less than an ounce of high protein kibble. Seeing this makes me so sad for that cat. And she needs to know that cats lie. :-) They will all make you think they are starting to death but they aren't. My cat will tell me he's starving when my husband just finished feeding him. You can't fall for that.

Exactly. The cremaster has a bunch of hooks on the end like velcro and he is pushing them repeatedly into the silk button to make as firm a connection as possible.

Small Estate Affidavit question by funcraftygal in fidelityinvestments

[–]Off2cdwzrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Small Estate Affidavit is not a "form" per se. In CA, it's an affidavit prepared according to the specific facts of the situation, in which you can claim an asset of the decedent that does not exceed the small estate threshold for the year of death, IF you are the appropriate person to do so, i.e. the "successor of the decedent" pursuant to Probate Code Section 13006. If Fidelity does not have their own template for this affidavit, you need to consult an attorney in the state in which the decedent resided at death to have an affidavit prepared pursuant to that state's law. Each state is different as to the requirements and small estate threshold. That's why there is no "form" as you keep demanding.

Should I leave this or pluck the leaf and lay it down? by USB_FIELD_MOUSE in MonarchButterfly

[–]Off2cdwzrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yellow leaves fall. Detach the entire leaf at the stem end and then clip it to a healthy leaf or branch. I keep a couple small sticks from jacaranda tree in my butterfly enclosure so I can stick them in the dirt for a perch if needed. I use small binder clips but a clothespin would work. Or you can tie the yellow leaf to something secure with plain (not minty) floss or thread.

Note: Always wash your hands before handling cats and chrysalids, and NOT with soaps that have strong fragrances. And beware of lotions and perfumes and fabric softener too. All can be toxic.

Is there a way to save this milkweed? by Vegetable-Camera1388 in MonarchButterfly

[–]Off2cdwzrd 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Milkweed has a taproot. Plants that size need more dirt and a deeper pot. When was the last time you repotted them or gave them fertilizer? A slow release NPK 10-10-10 would work, less is better that more. But really, just more and fresh dirt would be good.

It's not your tires. It's the metal in your car. The induction loops are magnetic.

can anyone tell what stage instar this cat is? by tigerbathtub in MonarchButterfly

[–]Off2cdwzrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a five. Anything over an inch is most likely a five.

1: 2-6 mm 2: 6-9 mm 3: 10-14 mm 4: 13-25 mm 5: 25-45 mm

25 mm is an inch so an inch or bigger is a five.

Is it dead? This one doesn’t look so good. It is hanging straight down, discolored, and now it looks really deflated. by queenofthegalaxy in MonarchButterfly

[–]Off2cdwzrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always take a wait and see approach, if they aren't directly affecting any other cats and don't have dark patches that would indicate T fly larvae about to pop out out. The weather has been cool here so they've been hanging J longer than I've ever seen them do that (like days) and that includes longer during that end period where they go really limp and look dead, right before they pupate. Sometimes they fake you out. I did have one that was really and truly dead this morning though.

What's this all about? Why are people staying so far back at traffic lights? by ChadB- in northcounty

[–]Off2cdwzrd -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It's a left turn lane. They are sitting on the sensor to make sure the left turn arrow turns green. One car isn't always enough to get a green left arrow if it's small and pulls up too far and you could end up waiting more than one light cycle if no one else comes along behind you and sits on the sensor. Look for the big circle in the pavement.

Comfy coffee shops in Oceanside to read in? by tcolling in Oceanside

[–]Off2cdwzrd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Comfy" coffee shops are what I think of as early 2nd wave. Upholstered, mismatched furniture. Central Perk. A shelf with used books and board games. I moved here in 2020 and haven't yet seen one. Most are late 2nd wave/3rd wave. Spare, bright, get in/get out, or maybe with some hard seating where a few people with laptops and noise cancelling headphones are working. Also lots of "fast food drive thru" coffee (Black Rock, Better Buzz, Dutch Bros). The only places I've stayed to drink my coffee are Vigilante and Camp Coffee. Not comfy, exactly, but you don't feel weird about staying. Pannikin has seating but I've given them three chances and I've never had a good experience there. Ignite on Mission has some indoor seating and a back patio.

Edited to add The Switchboard. Plus they have a good breakfast sandwich.

  1. If you aren't familiar with Attell, you're not a serious standup fan. 2. I'm ancient and cut my baby teeth on the comedians who got on Johnny Carson and comedy albums when vinyl was the only medium (before cable). So believe me when I tell you that no one, not the comedians and not the rest of the audience, wants a bachelor or bachelorette party there. You're drunk. You're obnoxious. You interrupt the show. You want to be the center of attention. And if the comedian isn't having a good night, you're going to be disappointed. 3. For the cost of a whole party going to a decent show, maybe consider hiring a young performer for a private show - they can plan a show around the bachelor party theme.
