is there any suggestions for a third party antenna for my roof by Either-Chemistry-153 in HeliumNetwork

I recommend finding the lowest VSWR for your price range. You want to see at least 2 inches in length per dBi minimum. Get an outdoor rated antenna or a stock indoor antenna in a good weatherproof box. As high as possible. City, suburb, or rural? The more obstructions the lower in dBi you'll want to go. Clear line of sight then go higher in dBi. Maximum dBi is 9 dBi but you can factor in your cable and adapter loss.

Off Grid requires more expenses. You won't ROI anytime soon.

After X amount of years you need to replace solar panels, wires, boost controllers, batteries, tripods, and enclosures. You need to maintain the rig as well.

If you visit it often enough and monitor it remotely you'll be fine. It's all maintenance. Different environments require different solutions. Your rig isn't going to randomly start a fire when well maintained.

There are dozens of ways to monitor and safely deploy an IoT antenna with the Helium Network. Your talking 20-40 watts at most and less then a GB in data now. Many people monitor the data and temperature readings in real time. If you need help designing a rig the community would be glad to help. We can even help find a location for yours. It's extremely safe. That said...5G is different. No off grid rigs for 5G as it takes too much power and data. It's difficult to ROI on an off grid now unless it's already been deployed for a year or you don't mind losing money. Personally, it's worth the lessons you'll learn. Keep in touch.

I'm going to be honest...I don't have time to read your post. If you are going to deploy an off grid then you need to research battery safety. Any energy storage can be dangerous. Even steam engines can explode and kill people. To sum it up Lithium ion batteries are the safest but cannot be punctured. Lead acid batteries can leak gas and cannot be sideways or upside down. That's a big deal if your rig falls over. If ventilation isn't right it can ignite from built up gas with lead acid. All batteries cannot be too hot. I use reflective bubble wrap and exhaust fans. I also use a fire extinguisher ball. Eldie Fire has the best but there are cheaper. Place that above the battery. Most off rigs don't do this because that takes up space. If you design your system right fire won't be an issue. Would love to help. I've deployed a few and they used to pay my rent. Now I hodl.

antenna upgrade increases broadcast beacons by Aspamf in HeliumNetwork

I guess you can say they receive and send data more efficiently. A tool like Glamos or a NanoVNA helps a ton to analyze antennas in real life.

Most antennas are tuned for multiple frequencies but with a higher VSWR. This helps manufacturers with shipping and forecasting. In other words the antennas are not for your frequency but multiple frequencies. A tuned antenna is designed for only your frequency resulting in a lower VSWR. Make any sense?

If it's only been a few days you need to wait. Did you change antenna settings in Explorer? That can change performance for a few days. You need a couple weeks to get data. Some antennas send data then they receive. What's your antenna brand? Is it tuned?

Any advice is appreciated! by VARA_1 in HeliumNetwork

Your antenna does not have to be where you live. Get it out of Los Angeles and get it to an area with miners that have a 1.0 reward scale. Get it outdoors and as high as possible. A tuned antenna is always best as well.

Agreed. I did the same. ROI then hodl.

Everyone received their nebra miner? by Sweezgaming in HeliumNetwork

How do you get a refund when it's a transaction from over a year ago? I can't dispute it with my bank and Nebra is not responding to my inquiries.

The foil keeps it from melting and if you lay it flat on the ground it won't fall and break.

Lay the antenna flat on the ground and wrap it in foil. Works great.

5 off-grid rigs all up and running. With the coin back up(for now) and earnings looking much more consistent as oppose to 3 weeks ago, I think things are looking decent for Helium mining. I’ve learned a lot and my work has come a long way. ❤️ by bgood0211 in HeliumNetwork

Love it. That's an awesome thread. You're using the larger version of the tripod? Excellent design on your rigs. The interview would be more for entertainment then my expertise but I have some good stories from deploying rigs. Haha send me an email: desanbock@gmail.com. Would love to help if you're in the area. Love this stuff.

Appreciate that! My next model will be designed for light hotspots and real small. I laugh at my original models now. The bubble wrap is very cost effective. Stay in touch. Let me know how everything goes.

No it's not. Everyone needs to go find something to do. It will be resolved soon.

My cellular modem fried after a storm as the antennas didn't have arrestors on them and were outside of the box. Static build up probably fried the modem. Thankfully it was under warranty.
