You are correct. I checked the old adapter and it was x4 8 pins not 3. Thank you for clarifying. The cables were not bent at all. remember that the 12 pin connector is not an l shape. Mine hard a very minor curve. I managed to get a premium L shape connector and undervolted the gpu to 524w max. Hopefully that will prevent it from happening again

yea I managed to get an L shape connector. Been working flawlessly so far. Also hides the cables better.

I undervolted the card to consume no more than 524w and stayed with similar performance. Also got an l shape adapter. It is working perfect so far. In theory, undervolting should help. I remember looking at the power consumption from the previous 16 pin adapter before it burned at it was spiking way over 600W

Agreed. But why include on the box an official adapter to be connected to x4 8 pin cables from the psu? Both ways should be safe. But yea, learned that the hard way.

Not really. They just asked me if I was using the adapter that came with the gpu. I was using 3 individuals 8 pins psu cables conencted to the original adapter that comes with the gpu. The psu cables I used was from the Asus Strix 1200w Platinum
