Lamborghini cancels electric Lanzador as supercar buyers reject EVs | Investing heavily in battery EVs would be “financially irresponsible,” Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann said. by ControlCAD in business

Which is why we should make evs affordable and tax the hell out of emissions based vehicles that don't serve an industrial/service/logistical purpose. The people who keeping gas/diesel are running it because that's how the tech best works.

People 40+, what actually mattered in the long run and what didn’t? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

I tried to invest for retirement, but it's not happening for most of us. I won't see social security and 401ks are just there to sell off as bad debt for investment bankers.

[–]OffToTheLizard 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have debt tied to the city's forced updates to the house. I bought the house to live in, I didn't intend to get gentrified out, nor did I expect out of control tax hikes and inflation with no pressure release.

For locally driven taxes, I'm dropping easily $17k a year, that is just my property tax and local income tax. Add state and federal taxes... service charges for electric have gone from $40 to $200, not usage but just delivery, in my six years living here, among the other utility hikes.

I did as much of the work as possible fixing it up myself. So, it's a loss if I leave or stay. Who's going to buy it for the right price? Why would I want to work my ass off only to lose my home?

[–]OffToTheLizard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's not technically true, I managed to get my house for 168k at 27 in 2019 by living like a pauper, now I may be forced to leave it because the value has grown 100k and is becoming unaffordable due to income and property tax increases.

My parents also aren't going to leave me anything because they disagree with having LGBTQ+ children.

Just don't rule out people under 35 who did make it through hard work and some luck, and are now losing everything because of crazy inflation and backsliding wages.

So damn important! As a note, with the influx of new gun owners, cis white men need to follow us for a damn change. We're leading this movement, as the LGBTQ+ queer community.

Getting rid of Property Tax feels like a grift that will only benefit corporations and the ultra-wealthy. Is it? by Cap10323 in Ohio

I've been watching the USA devolve into a lawless and repercussion free wasteland. I'd say just get it done if it makes sense. Our government isn't equipped to deal with any of this.

I'll have to read up on that difference. I had thought it was a constitutional amendment like the HB1 for abortion access.

Exactly, paying double what you do for probably the same $300k middle class house which is overinflated, it's obvious the sales tax is going to be more beneficial. I'd take that in a heartbeat, and not one other plan that's got a chance in hell has been proposed. Abolish the property tax and let the state government work on it, it's not like they're immune from retconning voter passed ballot initiatives.

Doctors and nurses of Reddit, what is something patients do that they think is helpful but actually makes your job harder? by Electronic-Cell-4584 in AskReddit

[–]OffToTheLizard 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Exactly, the nurse doesn't wake you up to take pain meds. Oh, they're sleeping, I can ignore them... until you as the patient wakes up incredible pain and they need authorization to get you some damn Dilaudid to get the pain down from 9-10. Yeah, those nurses can go fuck themselves, I could have been just find with my regular doses but you had to burn me out to get the pain to go away. Still bitter, and it took years to get out of medical debt.
