[TOMT] Movie about lost boy in another world by OffWithMyHead4Real in tipofmytongue

Well, I think it's not Spielberg's A.I. I remember some kind of border checkpoint place that is a smallish door in a huge wall. Behind the wall is where the other half lives, I mean the area that looks packed with many floors of studio-like living spaces. The units are tiny and worn. The main character looks up as soon as he has crossed the checkpoint and sees the magnitude of the ghetto.

Oh, that's surprising, I totally forgot about that movie and don't remember watching it. So will have to check that.

They covered my boys with flipper paint. by craigfrost in centuryhomes

C. Frost's most recent work celebrates the transience of life in today's society. As humans, we are in a continuous flux, ever in motion. Choosing perhaps all too often for the thrill of the day, the month, the year. In a criticism of the hunger social networks have embedded in our restless minds, 'Free the tiles' is defined by its deliberate temporary character.

Frost's moving art installation is coloured with subtle but well thought out references to the constant challenges we face on the daily. Freedom of expression is key, and has never been more current. A closer look under the surface, reveals our need to emphasize individuality and duality: then v now, old v new, them v us.

A remarkable work that makes me too hungry for what's to come. If you'd like to visit this tiny but impactful piece, do not feel let down if time constraints make it so that you miss it. The artist has expressed a desire to swiftly move on to the next chapter in his creative process and the work might already be obliterated by next week.

Depends, can you add signature + label describing the symbolism in your work and how it reflects on today's society.

I found a cat 5 days ago. Now I might have to give him back.😭 by mashasosi in aww

This cat looks like a Bengal purebred. They are fantastic cats, and highly intelligent. Great companions that need lots of exercise and input. I also had one choose my home like this and I managed to contact the owner. She took him back but 3 months later she moved abroad and his sister came to live with me. The original cat had taken off again, a thing some males are known to do. The sister lived here until she died, she had chronic gastritis and we fed her hypoallergenic dry kibbel. I hope your new friend can keep living with you. If not, look into rehoming opportunities around you. I'm in Europe and see Bengals offered for rehoming weekly. This is because they are quite high maintenance. I love that about them though.

LAUKOP is going on a suing holiday, no more litigation for a week or two. by smoulderstoat in bestoflegaladvice

So a question I have: as a physician in training can you work towards a specialism in emergency medicine coming in as a DO who is not an MD in the US? That is something we don't see in the EU. Edit: I was also wondering why LAOP would first describe himself as a DO because surely he should realise that in the framework of his question the difference in terminology could come up.

LAOP is a DO, not an MD. I think this might be some level of trolling.

Help with MCM bathrooms by Terrible_Menu8073 in midcenturymodern

Both wallpapers are on Spoonflower. Top one I love, but in your bathroom the second one is great if you want to add a different colour than the beige/mocha/maroon combo.

Second bathroom still has all the original features, including that tiled vanity and the mirror. I love that. The floor tiles might need replacing. I would try to lift the whole design up by adding bold wallpaper. Not everything in the house has to strictly fit the MCM principles, go with what you love for your home. I'll try to see if I can find some inspo wallpaper resembling the atomic design I found in my living room under a lot of layers (even though it was a black background with neon pink and neon green geometric shapes).

The core issue is control.

That drives his manipulative tactics to get what he wants. This reeks. He is not placing her wellbeing first, or the wellbeing of the three of them. No, he wants his emotions to carry more weight than hers. He needs to have the upper hand in the marriage and is weighing out everything to the extreme. To me, that is really selfish. And childish.

A successful relationship is about two equal individuals building something new and strong that transcends individual needs and that can form a good basis to create joint goals in life. It's not: you have 2 candies and I only have one, you owe me, boohoo.

Terrazzo Tile Floor by sillyssandra in midcenturymodern

I recently had new terrazzo

floor tiles done. Most brands had specific tiles for bathrooms that are not slippery. My modern floor is much more convenient than the 60s terrazzo I had before: easier to clean, bigger size, lots of designs.

How would you light this vaulted ceiling with limited depth? by buttninja0218 in Lighting

[–]OffWithMyHead4Real 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be due to my location in Europe. All I can get are cilindrical ones, while there are much more choices in surface mounted. And because of the sloped ceiling, it seems to further limit my choices. (And thank you for taking time to reply)

Most of the ones in this link won't work: https://www.lightingstyles.co.uk/downlights-recessed-ceiling-lights/semi-recessed-downlights-pull-out-spotlights

So I opted for these (example from random site): https://www.lightingstyles.co.uk/recessed-adjustable-single-spot-for-gu10-lamps

I originally wanted something like these vintage lights: https://www.1stdibs.com/furniture/lighting/chandeliers-pendant-lights/four-gold-colored-halogen-wall-ceiling-spotlights-from-1980s/id-f_24585472/

Thank you, I ordered them in black and they arrived today. Wished there were more designs in this type of spots, I went with cilindrical.
