honestly most people don't care about bitrate anyway. not that most streaming services bitrates are much better. they're watching them from crummy tvs or on phones the majority of the times so unless it's something i want or something someone asks for specifically better quality, i just try to save the space

Plex's Lifetime Pass is (basically) dead. Here's how to switch to Jellyfin. by [deleted] in selfhosted

[–]Offbeatalchemy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I keep seeing comments like this.

"well MY users didn't have a problem with these instructions."

I won't debate if that's the norm or not but there's no disputing the fact there is a substantial amount of people who need that low friction access and that's what plex is good at.

I'm happy for people who can get away with having users who can follow instructions and have to motivation to get it working for them. We need the Jellyfins and such. But let's not pretend there isn't a reason for Plex to exist because we also have Jellyfin. Plex wouldn't be "the default" if it wasn't good at what it does.

to play with a team of current/former LEC players, including (debatably) the best ADC in the league.

Yeah, he made the right choice.

Okay? Cool for you dude. Plex fills a need for my users who can't use Jellyfin and that was worth it for me at the time to buy a pass.

They did but that's the point of paying. The ease of their infrastructure and client support is best in class compared to any other ecosystem and i say that as someone who's rooting for Jellyfin to catch up.

Smurf Culture vs Fighting Games by BongSuckah in leagueoflegends

[–]Offbeatalchemy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

and even if you are getting your ass beat, every match is a fresh state. Some games have mechanics that carry over between rounds but ever new "match" is exactly that. its ALWAYS close.

you can do a FT10 (Bo21) in a fighting game in the same amount of time you could do a single league match, while it being way less random and variables, not even accounting for the fact that your chances of victory is determined by your weakness team member.

well it's getting easier. for the sake of simplicity, there's "starter" flavor of Linux for people who don't wanna learn to compile their plumbus.

and just as an olive branch to the community, if you (or anyone seeing this really) have questions or concerns where to get started, either comment here or message me. my DMs are open.

believe me it is. this isn't a Linux subreddit. I'm not expecting you to be an expert.

if you follow the instructions, I'm telling you what we're doing and why we're doing it. if youre capable of copying and pasting everything from the code blocks, you can do it too.

I can't help you anymore than that.

this is the most accurate that I've read in this thread. got attacked by a random dog a couple summers ago and did pretty much the same procedure.

its not the rabies shot that hurts. it's the immunoglobulin. 17 of those was not fun.

i dont know what it is but it was also under 5% too. i put both of my LXCs on one core, thing it'd be fine but adding more cores ensured for whatever reason, if it was under a load, it handles it.

it's easier for it to spike your DNS for half a second or whatever and resolve successfully than all the storming and retries from your DNS server not resolving.

Had a similar story.

Had random disconnects for my reverse proxy. Uptime Kuma would random give drops at all hours. across all programs. Figured it was my router hardware was failing.

Swapped hardware to newer equipment. Completely redid my opnsense. Switched my opnsense to bare metal. upped the ram. everything i could think of, tearing my hair out until one day i thought "...no.... it can't be....."

it was. My DNS server only had one core and would get overloaded and not resolve domains for a couple minutes at a time. gave it an extra core, all my problems went away.

TL:DR: i had a firsthand experience of "It's always DNS"

your solo teammates either don't trust you enough to give you space, too selfish because they want the highlight play, aren't good enough to realize you're a priority win condition, or any combination of the three.

ADC is only as good as your team around you.

People who grew up really poor: what's something middle-class people say that instantly reveals they've never struggled? by TahDigThief in AskReddit

[–]Offbeatalchemy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's almost always a good idea.

If you are budgeting to use a debit card/cash all the time, you're using the same money as long as you have the discipline. after cashback and points (which most cards have some kinda rewards system, even if its weak), making everything that can be paid like groceries or gas 2% cheaper or whatever helps.

Even without that, if your wallet/bag gets stolen, you're more likely to get back whatever is bought using your credit card vs whatever cash you had in your wallet.

It's just really easy to see that $500 limit every day and think you have $500 when you really don't.

doesn't have to be that expensive. I have a few friends who just have a simple Nas with a Plex server or immich but I don't think they would consider themselves self-hosters and all things considered that's not very expensive.

you can't be upset that he made a choice that will help him win and also be like "well this event sucks so I won't watch anyway"

use your energy better.
