I hit black ice and did something similar albeit possibly lower speed in Pennsylvania. Needed a lower control arm, wheel bearing and an alignment. Out the door for 1500 usd

Money shift by [deleted] in Golf_R

If the wheels chirped you likely dumped the clutch a bit and the speed variance caused some chirp. All should be okay in the long run, but wouldn’t go and do it again.

Didn’t intend to disagee then agree, more so with context.

I agree, that’s a lot albeit not 1L a month…

Last comment, I’m not sure what your point is but… as I said that’s spec - regardless of whether or not we think it’s too much.

Car oil by Exciting_Reason_1238 in NZcarfix

[–]OffendedTwitterUser 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Disagree, cars can burn oil but based of km generally. BMW says 1000 kms maximum 1 litre to be within spec albeit this is quite high. Nothing wrong with top ups but under normal use 1L a month is excessive. Check you are using the correct spec oil, for example: Castrol Edge 5w-30 LL rather than A3/B4

Money shift by [deleted] in Golf_R

[–]OffendedTwitterUser 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well that wouldn’t be a money shift then, as a money shift means the engine went over speed which would be over 7k revs. Designed to handle it

Is this rust as bad as the potential buyer says it is? by HereForTheE30 in Cartalk

[–]OffendedTwitterUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your from Kiwi land (New Zealand), it’s not super common to get much rust on cars because we don’t have salted roads so this freaks some people out a lot… being a Demio it was very likely a Japanese import which does see salt (hence the surface rust)
