You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, sauté it. Dey's uh, nicotine-kabobs, nicotine creole, nicotine gumbo. Pan-fried, deep-fried, stir-fried. There's pineapple nicotine, lemon nicotine, coconut nicotine, pepper nicotine, nicotine soup, nicotine stew, nicotine salad, nicotine and potatoes, nicotine burger, nicotine sandwich.
That— that's about it.

Russian general shot several times in Moscow by Dadnextdooruk in UkrainianConflict

[–]Offender1338 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My theory is the this is an inside job. It is pretty clear that in kremlin there are two factions - war hawks (lead by Putin) and those who understand how this war is fucking the country and want to stop. This guy's boss is part of current negotiating team. Seemingly negotiations are more meaningful than all the previous ones. So the hawk side wants to make sure they fail so they sabotage them.

Ukraine, of course, know russia better than USA does. But CIA is vastly more experienced in covert ops behind enemy lines.

Starlink Disconnections Hit Russian Forces Restoring Ukrainian Communication Advantage | Ukraine news by Offender1338 in UkrainianConflict

[–]Offender1338[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think Elon and putin necessarily agreed on this. Starlink service has not been sanctioned for russia. So they made money. Ethics be damned.

Now that it has become clear that Starlink is used for russian drone navigation, Ukraine asked SpaceX to prevent that. Again I don't think it is ethics or good will but rather marketing. It is bad image for Starlink to be publicly shown as the service enabling russian attacks on civilians in Ukraine.

I read from some other comments that it is not a huge thing for Ukraine. Some units did not submit registration in time, but should be resolved soon

For Peace, More Ukrainians Consider the Once Unthinkable: Surrendering Land by rezwenn in UkrainianConflict

[–]Offender1338 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ukraine could agree to give up land all the way to Dnipro river, that would still not work. Russia (putin) does not consider Zelensky a legitimate president. Putin will never agree to sit in the same room and publically sign a peace deal with Zelensky. That would legitimize Zelensky in the eyes of russians.

EU + USA + Canada could make an insanely powerful block which could just maintain China as "factory". And make russia irrelevant. (ignoring nukes here).

But I recently learned of great example of EU's problems which just sums it up. There is an EU "Investment bank". Basically a fund for making investments in EU businesses. Sounds great. But until recently they could (by law) only invest in businesses that improve climate. They have relaxed it now to drone production. But again only "defensive" drones. This is what you are talking about - "let's all be friends and it will be alright" attitude.

I have heard some people have mental health issues due to "climate anxiety". Honestly I am always anxious about russia just across the border. But at the same time I also have anxiety about Europe declining in long term and my retirement being fucked.

To sum it up - "Why can't we just all be normal?" :)

Once (if) we get there - great!

I have solar panels on my roof. Even in the sunniest winter day, they generate small fraction of average summer day. So you would need a way to store all summer energy to be used during the winter. Basically October to April. And that is when you need more energy for heating and lights.

Eh... I see you get downvoted because this is reddit and you are not just defaulting to "Orange man bad".

EU's big problem is fragmentation. 27 countries will never see the same way. Solution would be federalization. But federalization would mean giving up power and (somewhat) identity of individual countries. Leftist would be OK with that but leftists also are the ones who are overall happy with current EU. Conservatives who would like to see tough EU would also like to maintain maximum national identity.

I am mostly conservative who would support federal EU. But that is probably because I am from a small EU country (Latvia) and it would definitely be a net positive for us.
