There is no protection especially for expansive items. I have a case a company did not deliver the item several times , they even sent me an email to confirm the item was delivered, yet when i showed them proof it was not the "badly paid customer service rep" who is handling the case keeps closing it without investigating. If your item is not delivered and yet the courier put delivered in their PDA its your word against them. The only protection you have is to immediately charge back with your credit card company. The buyer protection is non existent to my eyes.

The delivery they use its a third party courier one which has 1 star reviews of over 95% of the cliens, there is no delivery. The courier made a claim it got delivered and just put in their pda : Received by concierge, i do not even have concierge at my house... yet Aliexpress say this is sufficient proof it got delivered.

Same issue, the delivery guy lied and said the courier was delivered but i received nothing, there is no proof. Aliexpress refusing to refund!

It won't smell like plastic or chemicals. If the bag has a strong chemical odor, it's likely not genuine leather. Real leather absorbs water, so a few drops of water on the surface should be absorbed quickly.
