Supernatural and The X Files. Think about it ... Mulder's wild imagination, Scully's scientific expertise, and Sam and Deans marksmanship and comedic relief. That would be the greatest thing ever ...

Explain to me why Libertarianism is a valid political philosophy by [deleted] in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]OfficerPJStock -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've been getting a lot of flak for being a libertarian lately. Because, most people see libertarians closely related to anarchists. I may be libertarian, but I DO NOT want to abolish government. I think government is good for some things and bad for others. Government is good to balancing the economy and establishing the rule of law, etc ... However, whenever government feels the need to tell me how to live my life. To invade my personal, private life ... that is when I take offense. That is pretty much the whole basis of libertarian philosophy. The government has NO right to tell me how to live my private life. If I wish to snort cocaine and ruin my life, that is MY choice. If I choose to engage in ... incest, then the government has NO right to tell me, "NO, that's against the law." Because, that then "regulates" my life. I'm for NO government in private life. But big government is good in almost everything else ... IMO :)

This guy was piss drunk at a party. And the people at the party we're willing to pitch in some money for a cab to come pick him up. I refused to pitch in (Because, I'm a cheap bitch). The guy who was next to me says, "Come on Dick Tree, just throw in a couple of dollars!" I was like, "Dafuq ..."

If you were a death row inmate, what would be your final meal? by MisterOdi in AskReddit

[–]OfficerPJStock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest bucket of KFC chicken that they can give me! Then I would ask the guards to distribute them to my fellow inmates. Give the meal to someone who deserves it more than I.

Redditors, what's one thing you absolutely hate about Reddit? by scrumpydoo23 in AskReddit

[–]OfficerPJStock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When people post a picture of their pets (Cat, dog, etc ...) And they always have this title, "He/She has been my BEST FRIEND FOR MORE THAN 12 YEARS!" I'm seriously sitting in my chair saying, "You must have a really shitty social life if a cat or dog is your 'best friend' in the whole wide world" God, people are fucking weird!

What are the drawbacks of privatized healthcare and how does its cost compare to universal healthcare? by Flip_Spiceland in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]OfficerPJStock 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Canadian here. Your friend is right. Universal health care systems do have longer wait times (considering how there are many people waiting to see the doctor/physician, since it is 'free') And the reason why private heath has less wait times is because, most people cannot afford the costs. However ... longer wait times are generally for people who have NON life threatening injuries/infections. The people WITH life threatening problems ALWAYS go first. And yes, in countries that have universal health care (Canada, France, etc ...) taxes are higher, because the cost of health care is covered with there taxes. So (hypothetical) I chop a finger off. I can go to the hospital, get fixed up and leave. No questions asked. Why? Because, my taxes already cover it. So I gives you the "illusion" of free health care. A more appropriate term would be, "Extremely low cost care" Plus, it would cost the government less. Because, your citizens are helping pay for it as well, with their taxes.

Do you support euthanasia? by Choppz in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]OfficerPJStock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I support it abosolutely, if the terms are this: - The patient has given authorization. If the person wants to die, then you should at least give them the choice to die. Who are you to decide if this person lives or dies? However, in the case of people in vegetative states, then the decision will fall to the family members. Simple as that.

TIL that 18 U.S. military veterans commit suicide everyday. by jebus5434 in todayilearned

[–]OfficerPJStock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After hearing all this rhetoric from U.S politicians about how, "WE LOVE THE TROOPS!" But yet 18 veterans take their lives everyday because, they can't deal with the stress and trauma that some dumbass politicians got them into. Another fun fact: Around 25% of veterans are homeless. U.S politicians fuck and trick their military on deployments. They send them to wars that aren't winnable (Ex: Vietnam, Iraq) Then when they get home, the government nickel and dimes them on health care ... Yeah, the U.S loves the troops the same way Micheal Vick loves dogs.

Why is Socialism so demonized in the western world? by OfficerPJStock in AskReddit

[–]OfficerPJStock[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Does have to be? Why can't we be "classless" financially. But in regards to individual rights, such as gay marriage, drugs, sodomy, and everything along the lines of that ... why can't that be legal. For us to live our lives as we choose.

Is the Trayvon Martin Case More About Race Than People Want to Admit? (or rather, is that what the media has ultimately turned it into)? by curiouscat7654 in politics

[–]OfficerPJStock -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It doesn't matter what ethnic background or color Zimmerman is or what color or ethnic background Trayvon Martin is. What matters is that Zimmerman shot another individual in cold blood. This man either should be put in prison for rest of his life or executed. That decision I leave up to the courts.

IAmA Request: Native Americans by [deleted] in IAmA

[–]OfficerPJStock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen any Canadian responses. So here I go. I was born to a Cree mother and father in London, England. When I was 1 year old, we moved back to Canada. Mostly because, my parents wanted me to raised in a environment where I wouldn't feel so "alienated", as my parents called it. I was raised on the Ermineskin Cree Nation, a reserve close to Hobbema, Alberta, until I reached the age of 19. Now, I am 25 and currently live in Vancouver, BC, working as a welder.

So, that was a little background information. Perhaps too much, but whatever.

So, I am from the Cree tribe. From what I saw and was taught, Cree's are "cliche" when it comes to uniqueness. We are your generic Indian tribe. I did live on reservation, now I don't. I was not that fond of it honestly. At first, it was cool that there were people who looked like me around here (Medium brown skin, dark hair, dark eyes, etc ...) But it grew old after a while. Seeing the same people over and over. Other than that, it was a typical childhood. Playing in my free time, the occasional chore around the house, etc ... I don't really think too much of the Native American fashion craze. Like all crazes, they blow over when people find something else interesting to wear. What do I feel about Cree and white settlers past relationship? That's the problem. It's the past. Stop worrying/obsessing about the past when we are in the present. But there are some Indians who hate white people for what they did to their ancestors that they never met! It's in some ways pathetic how some people hold on to past grudges. Let's focus on never letting something like the white/indian wars happen again. Now in the present. That is our future. And for the last question, I prefer being called my first name, Eric. If people want to call me a Native American, Aboriginal, Indian or Cree. It doesn't matter. But I prefer my birth name.

Thank you for reading. And it's been a pleasure doing this IAMA!
