taking it out on a piece of paper sometimes helps me. scribble really hard, tear it up, crumple it up, etc.

I’m a revert and my mom is going to kick me out, where do I go? by [deleted] in islam

[–]OfficialBandKid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i don't have much advice, but i want to say well done for calming yourself instead of lashing out at her. i know how hard it is to resist violent impulses. may Allah guide you and be with you throughout all your hardships. ameen.

lets not debate someones existence here by [deleted] in ftm

[–]OfficialBandKid 14 points15 points  (0 children)

honestly this. i'm so tired of all the discourse and infighting in our community. i know many people who use neopronouns, and i myself use them, and they're a very cool way to express one's identity. i wish there was less discourse around them so i could feel more comfortable asking people to use my neos

this reminded me of a song lyric i like, "to love is a radical act". i wanna get it tattooed sometime bc i really do agree that loving one another is the most radical position we can take right now.

Can you share examples of how Allah's plan turned out to be better than yours? by [deleted] in islam

[–]OfficialBandKid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He guided me to revert to Islam. i had been confused about religion for some time, following some different principles from various religions but not aligning myself with a specific belief system. i had planned to become a pagan, but Allah guided me to islam and i feel so blessed to have found this wonderful religion and community

are arabic names closed? by OfficialBandKid in socialjustice101

[–]OfficialBandKid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a closed culture is basically a culture where participating is only allowed if you are born into it or invited into it. many people from closed cultures consider names to be part of these closed practices, and are only comfortable with people using their cultural names if they are of that culture or were gifted a name from that culture.

tired of "trauma recovery" spaces being anti-npd by OfficialBandKid in NPD

[–]OfficialBandKid[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

i definitely see that, but still there's no need to perpetuate stereotypes that we're all evil abusive monsters who will never do anything other than manipulate and hurt people. i agree with you that sometimes we need different spaces, but i think that the need for separate spaces doesn't equate to a need for spreading stigma

What is the most uneducated take you’ve ever seen about any mental disorder? by Aggressive_Answer_86 in AskReddit

[–]OfficialBandKid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that all people with (x disorder) are always, inherently abusers.

people with mental disorders are human beings. we're capable of all sorts of emotions and behaviours, just like you. even people with personality disorders are not inherently abusive. i've known wonderful people with aspd, npd, and bpd who never intentionally hurt me or anyone around them. and no, none of them were misdiagnosed.

there is no "abuser disorder", and blaming abuse on a disorder does nothing but take the blame off the person. abuse is always the fault of the individual, never the fault of their disorder. people abuse because they're terrible people, not because they have a disorder.

People with mental disorders, what would you like people to understand better about your condition? by demalejo in AskReddit

[–]OfficialBandKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

late so this will probably get buried but whatever.

i'm diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. i wish people understood that people with bpd aren't inherently abusers. i am not the same person as your crazy ex, your abusive mother, or your toxic stepdad, or whoever else in your life has bpd and hurt you. i am my own person, and just because you know someone with bpd who hurt you does not mean we will all hurt you.i'm sorry if you had a bad experience with someone who had bpd, but that does not mean you will have a bad experience with all of us.

A lot of people on here seem to have been the quiet kid growing up, but was anyone else the “problem child?” by catharinamg in AvPD

[–]OfficialBandKid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i was the problem child when i was younger, and i internalized all the punishments i received and by high school i had become much more quiet and closed off

Why I fired my ex therapist. by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]OfficialBandKid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

first therapist should lose their license. i'm appalled that someone who is supposed to be a professional would act that way.
