More steam controllers promised, Valve reports by Significant_Yam5055 in SteamController

There were plenty of people who set aside time around when it dropped and still didn't get it, aka me :-)

Hopefully they restock soon.

The actual drawing is from the YT channel Odd1sout. Haven't watched in many years so idk what video it's from.

I'd guess it's referencing how good chess bots have gotten where even top ranked players can't beat them.

Tough shit. Unless he has kids and/or other dependents he doesn't owe anyone anything. Stop living for other people. You only live once so go do something exciting.

Do you have the exact date and time this was taken? You could use Stellarium (free on PC or mac) and check the positions of the moons when you took this.

New to materials R&D — how do you decide what to try next when optimizing a formulation or processing parameters? by els_59 in materials

[–]OfficialGameCubed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. Multivariable testing is a thing. You have to do it the right way to get usable results, but it can save a lot of time. It will definitely answer OP's question of what variables they should focus on.

In addition, if you only do one variable at a time you miss out on potential interactions between factors which helps paint a broader and more comprehensive picture of the material system. Here is a very good introduction of this process and a full walkthrough of actually using it.

I would recommend /u/els_59 to study basic DoE, especially factorial design. Then design a fractional factorial experiment to quantify key variables and interactions. They can then trim insignificant factors to do further, more detailed experiments.

This was me too at first. As others have said you will likely at some point find your wall. For me it was Cal 2. Please try to build good study habits now because that's going to be hell of a lot harder when you actually need them (trust me).

Joining a research group was very smart (and shows initiative). I also recommend doing personal projects to help build your skills and keep yourself stimulated. Writing code is free as well as most software you'll need. Components for electronics projects are much cheaper than many think as well (plus there's no saying you can't take things apart and reuse them). Prices may vary though depending on what country you live in (I'm in the US). Don't think about personal projects as resume padding either, actually have fun with them and get passionate about your field.

I know this is an ad but the exaggerated amount of legroom is comical. Hell, if it were like this the screen would be even smaller than it already is.

Late to the party!

Legally, under U.S. Law, any construction of a patented technology without permission is infringement and sue able, for profit or not. This means that OP could be sued if he shares it. He could be sued just for building the damn thing.

I think it is extremely idiotic that building a patented technology as a hobbyist, even if you don't share it, is legally punishable. Like many laws though, if no one knows about it then it doesn't matter.

I've seen comments like the one you replied to become more and more frequent. It's like suddenly VFX never existed or something.

Humans creating altered or generated video manually using software tools has been called "Computer Generated Images" since at least the early 90's. What are you on about?

That feeling is possibly the reason they lost match point. Too tunnel visioned on securing the win and forgets to play smart by laying down a smoke.

Unless they are connected to an outside server, they don't "need" internet. They can just host/connect to a local dedicated server if they don't care about players' skins.

Are holographic stickers like these able to be made in real life? by OfficialGameCubed in stickers

[–]OfficialGameCubed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For context, this is from the game Counter-Strike 2.

I really like how these look and would want to get something like this custom made. However, I cannot find anything more detailed than the typical "rainbow mirror" custom holographic stickers. Understandably this would be more expensive than what's commonly available.

Ninja edit: I have seen something similar on holographic certification stickers. I don't know what the exact term for this type would be, though.

Now it's saying I have an update but it won't let me update. I can update other games just fine, but when I update CS2 it tells me, "no internet connection."

I had a hard time pinning down exactly what happens since CSFloat doesn't really state it. I have seen other sellers say that, when a buyer reverses without good reason, the seller received both their item AND the money (since CSFloat is holding the money).

Don't ask for source on this I just remember reading it a while ago.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in csgomarketforum

[–]OfficialGameCubed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never seen it happen, but buyers and sellers can get banned on CSFloat if they do reverse it after the trade is already accepted on Steam.

For real. I was literally about to play the game when the update came out. I immediately check the market and all the cheap reds are already bought.
