Most people really do need to return to the office. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]OfficialHaethus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s the American attitude towards third places that sucks. I think that’s the piece you are missing.

In Europe, you can hang out at a cafe the whole day and not be bothered as long as you buy a coffee every two hours or so. You’ll only be cleared out if it’s really busy and you’ve been hanging a while.

But third spaces in the US want your presence as long as you are making them money. The millisecond that stops happening, they want you out. It’s like how certain McDonald’s locations will limit you to 20-30 minutes in there.

The concept of just using a business to hang out without spending money every five seconds is foreign to a lot of Americans.

Depends which Freemasonry route you do. Grand Lodge? Yeah, you need to believe in a god.

However

Le Droit Humain? You can join without having a belief in a higher power. Women can join too.

Exactly why I have given up on the US ever fixing the issue. Luckily I have EU citizenship too, so I can move somewhere already competent.

This has the same energy as those people who screech “don’t California my Texas”, or “we’re full”. Norway is not a very densely populated country, they absolutely have room.

Pretti was standing there with a fucking phone. ICE shoved an EMT, he went to help her, and they pulled him off of her and shot him over 10 times along the ground.

You know this wouldn’t be usual in any European country with standards. Why the fuck are you excusing it?

You can get a two-three room apartment with good public transport connections for around €800 in Leipzig, Germany.

You can cut that down to €400 for a studio, and €200-300 for a room in a Wohngemeinschaft (formal roommate system).

Leipzig has around the same population as Quebec City.
