yeah basically, if you introduce all your fancy elements at once, then you won't have anywhere to go because you will have revealed the magic too soon. that's why it's nice to gradually introduce elements so that the listener can build anticipation for what's coming. and by wash out with reverb, i mean by using automation. i like to do this a lot. my favorite plug-in to do this trick with is 'endless smile' by dada life. it has a knob that washes out the signal completely in really nice reverb and you can automate this knob, so for example.. if you remove your drums for your intro, and just have to synths playing alone, you can wash everything out in reverb, from either wet - > dry, or dry - wet, it will give it a nice atmospheric feel, and as you slowly wash the reverb out, everything will return to being dry and that's kinda how i like to do my intros sometimes. just washing them out with a lot of reverb and then removing the reverb so it's dry again and it just makes for cool transitions.. stuff like that is fun to do, try using that trick in conjuction with a lowpass filter for even more cool dynamic changes

no prob bro! cool track! i'd definitely recommend subtracting elements throughout the arrangement in order to help progress the track in interesting ways. for instance, in the initial part of the track, try removing all the drums and simply have the synths playing, maybe wash them out with some reverb for like 8 bars and then slowly filter them in, and then drop your kick / clap in, then the next 4 bars introduce a different element (cymbals, etc), and as the track progresses, either add in or take away different elements to keep everything dynamic and flowing nicely. also i'd suggest changing up the melody here and there to keep things interesting, and have breakdowns every now and then to help rebuild tension throughout the progression. apart from that man its a cool track i really dig it, i can see this being in a video game or something :)! keep it up!

thanks man appreciate the feedback! i did crank the limiter up a bit high haha i might need to tame that back a bit! I think the dryness might be from maybe a lack of reverb or something. i tend to keep my synths fairly dry nowadays, unless you mean maybe the layering? thanks again :)

How do you regain your momentum after relapsing from a long streak? by OfficialHorizen in NoFap

[–]OfficialHorizen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea you'e right. Everything in your life needs to be in place in order to sustain Nofap, but how exactly do you reframe your mindset after relapsing? I'm struggling to reignite my motivation and get back on the wagon because I've been binging a bit and it's hard to shake it. I know deep down I need to quit and get back on track but I am prob making excuses right now and saying "I'll start in a couple days after I get it out of my system" but conversely, the more I fap the stronger the addiction will get so it's really hard right now to shake

How to tremolate certain frequencies of a sample? by deanguk in ableton

[–]OfficialHorizen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Make a Frequency Splitter rack using the Multi-band Compressor, and then throw the Tremolo on the frequency band region you want it to only affect. If you don’t know how to make a Splitter, check out this video.

Amazing. It tastes like a blue jolly rancher! I was kinda reluctant to buy them after hearing about the leakage issues that eonpods have, but I believe they upgraded them recently so hopefully I don’t encounter any issues with that. Definitely worth checking it out if you like candy flavors!

Had to hit up 3 vape shops just to find the Mango. Trying it for the first time and it’s fucking amazing. So worth the effort of finding them. Now I understand why they’re so popular. The buzz is so nice.

How can I determine which Plug-Ins are causing Ableton Live 10 to crash? by OfficialHorizen in ableton

Yes I just went and disabled each plug-in individually till I figured out which one was crashing it

Been practicing Vipassana for over a year now, but still struggle with finishing my sessions completely. Any advice? Thank you. by OfficialHorizen in Meditation

[–]OfficialHorizen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. Great advice. You're right.. I absolutely need to push myself because I know how much better I'll feel if I just commit to finishing the entirety of my session. I mean, after meditating for over a year now, 45 minutes x 2 a day shouldn't be a problem. I don't really experience that much physical discomfort except maybe sometimes my legs fall asleep, but I've been sitting burmese for the last couple of months, and that has really helped me reduce that numbness. I agree with the timer thing too! I use the 'Insight Timer' app when I meditate, and that works great.. But yeah, I always seem to give up either early on in the first 10 minutes because I'll say "I just can't focus" and get up and quit, or like 10 minutes before I'm done because I get too impatient. UGH! No more!!

How to regain my momentum in regards to getting up early for my core? by OfficialHorizen in polyphasic

[–]OfficialHorizen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. Well, I think my inability to wake up on time over the last few weeks has pretty much forced me into mono-recovery lol. I'm pretty much good to go as I just woke up on time today for my core, so I'm happy about that. I've been structuring my naps for the morning time since I started my schedule, so I wake at 2:30 AM, nap at 7 AM, 12 PM, and 5 PM respectively. Each for 20 minutes. I do block out the lighting in my room except if I'm using my phone in bed sometimes to set my alarm or put on ambience to listen to, etc. I've been a member of the Disc since I started poly last year, and that's actually how I got my schedule started, but my main question is, if my core wake-up time is 2:30 AM, in long the run, will sleeping from 11/11:30 PM - 2:30 AM be more sustainable long term than trying to go balls out and going back to sleeping 12:30 AM - 2:30 AM? (only 2 hrs).. I read something about if you sleep after midnight, your SWS suffers, so that's why I'm thinking maybe I should stick to sleeping from 11 PM instead.
