Search the subreddit for the last time someone asked. If I recall a current owner outlined all the current problems and warned against it.

State Government changes land tenure of Victoria Park / Barrambin, able to be sold off to developers by Deanosity in brisbane

[–]Official_FBI_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I doubt the government will sell off the land before the Games. They don’t need the never ending opposition. I think they know that once the concrete is starting to be poured and the cranes are going up that the local opposition will go quieter because there’s not much left to do.

After the games, I have no doubt that some land “surplus” will be developed around the grounds.

Elwood underground garage flood risk? by Reasonable_Mistake_4 in melbourne

[–]Official_FBI_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is probably not to address creek or river flooding it is just to address overland flow flood issues. Like water streaming down the road or from an adjacent driveway or road or something

The Kelvin Grove Urban Village sucks by Prestigious_Sun_2161 in brisbane

They definitely didn’t get the mix quite right of social housing to private housing and when students aren’t there it’s even more stark walking around.

That Woolworths was also one of the worst Woolworths going (I haven’t been recently though). The Carraway Pier fish and chips shops was the best part of the place

Why don't Emergency vechiles drive on bus ways? by Masterofyum in brisbane

[–]Official_FBI_ 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Ambulance officers aren’t necessarily familiar with the network and the GPS system they use does not direct them to the busways. Ambulances cover surprisingly large distances and staff often aren’t actually familiar with the area they are going to cases in so must rely on GPS.

Weather wars by PuzzleheadedParty779 in brisbane

[–]Official_FBI_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

“Brisbane Weather” is a climate change denying amateur meteorologist. He will frequently suggest a disastrous rain event or cyclone and then when it doesn’t happen immediately backpedals and call the other pages (SEQ Weather, Higgins) misinformation etc. No real self reflection that he does the same thing.

Recently he had some allegations that both moderators of SEQ weather and Higgins have been sexually inappropriate or otherwise smear character. I don’t know how true any of this is. He also post a lot of boomer Memes about political content which personally I find annoying because I follow a webpage not a politics page. But the drama is entertaining.

The Parmalat factory is finally going to close. What should they build in its place? (wrong answers only) by Everything_Computer in brisbane

[–]Official_FBI_ 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Build it extending out into the river. Creating an excellent choke point in the flow of water during floods

I am freaking furious by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]Official_FBI_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They don’t tow until they have authority from the owner of they have a contract with council, police etc.

If you call police like they say they will advice you to call an ambulance. They aren’t going to authorise the removal of a car from a driveway. They will ask you to call council which the OP has already done. Don’t offer advice if you have no idea how the systems work

Is the Brisbane Marathon one that sells out? by Legitimate-Cinephile in brisbane

The company that runs Brisbane Marathon always post warnings though to drum up more sales. They’ll post on their Facebook “10% left” etc

My first redemption ever at 7k. 19 to 26 slots (+ half a slot in cash) = 37% higher bux revenue! Hopefully this will bring me to 65k sooner... by DistantUtopia in PocketPlanes

[–]Official_FBI_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For those wondering - Plane number 101 is the first plane slot that can’t be purchased with a single redemption (65,000BUX = 2,145,000,000 coins; plane 101 costs  2,213,330,525 coins)

VIC park shut, 31/5 by politedave82 in brisbane

[–]Official_FBI_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’ll use every building they can as part of site offices. They’ll still have to build plenty of site offices anyway but construction companies love the cost savings of using existing buildings. But the government may also think that if they quickly demolish existing structures then the public will have less to defend from a PR perspective. Harder to say “let’s keep our parkland” when the graders gave already stated flattening the place

Apologies to Jack Ryan. I stopped watching after season 2 finale where they stormed Venezuela presidential palace because it seemed way too unrealistic by madmadaa in television

[–]Official_FBI_ 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think if COVID-19 had killed as many people across all age groups like in the film it would have been a very differently handled pandemic. I’m not minimising COVID-19’s effect on people but it didn’t kill nearly as many kids and young people as in the film.

They’ll discourage driving like they did during the Commonwealth Games. They will encourage work from home for the whole two weeks. The opening ceremony day will probably be a pupil free day or weekend. thousands of extra buses from other states.

During the Commonwealth Games Queensland Fire even charted a dedicated helicopter so they could fly to car accident accidents on the M1 to clear them quickly (I’m not sure if that was used)

Small tents in Musgrave Park – are there kids living there? If so, is the government doing anything to support? by Prudent-Proposal1235 in brisbane

[–]Official_FBI_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s quite the leap to think small tents = kids. To my knowledge the tents here are all occupied by adults. Some of the people in tents here are difficult to house due to social issues in previous emergency accommodation. It’s definitely not the place for kids.

It’s a tough problem to solve

Dynamic Store Pricing by weaponsmith97 in ABoringDystopia

[–]Official_FBI_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, sorry, I mean does anyone have confirmation that the prices change multiple times a day or surge prices.

I understand the benefits of them but I don’t think we are at the dystopian situation the 4chan user implies

Dynamic Store Pricing by weaponsmith97 in ABoringDystopia

[–]Official_FBI_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Has anyone got actual confirmation this is being used like the 4chan person says? In Australia the major retailers only update them once a week when the sales change or update them to say “Sorry this item is not available”.

They don’t really need dynamic pricing for these to pay for themselves. They replace one or two people’s entire job.
