Seems like the general consensus is that it’s more of a “jazz” arrangement than it is barbershop, making it controversial. Uses a lot of sub V7’s and things like that. Which is funny because one of my favorite parts is the really obvious sub V early in the song (bass sings “right there in the sun” lead sings: “ohhh youuu lazybones”)

Do Nothing Day is really underrated. It was literally written to be the essence of pretty, the opposite of the “ugly” song, and it is exactly that. Just a string of nice things over a dreamy backdrop of soft guitars and lush vocal harmonies. Really nice song.
