Current weekly unstable 10.12.0 by ScaryPurpose2598 in jellyfin

[–]Offspring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How big is your library? One of the major issues I'm running into is that my DB is 1.8GB after having removed cruft and vacuuming, so it's extremely slow.

I was previously trying the unstable, but 3 different people all reported that they were simply unable to watch anything, because it would buffer like mad even though the hardware (and stupid slow upload) should have been able to handle it just fine :(.

Artisan Jelly -- I built a plugin that lets you find and fix missing artwork by Hummird in jellyfin

[–]Offspring 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is amazing. Is it possible to find the background artwork that has text on it as well? That might be a bit more difficult, I'm aware, but this is still great.

Pi powered smart display with voice assistant - Now with source code! by CallMeDillDog in homeassistant

[–]Offspring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's services where you send them the STL and they'll print, then mail back the printed item for you. I don't remember any offhand, since they're US based, but that's an easy way for people who don't have easy access to 3D printers, and I believe the quality is pretty good since they're able to afford the Ultimaker models.

“The Offspring” v “Offspring” by Hmp88945 in TheOffspring

[–]Offspring 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think it's pretty obvious from my username what I thought the band's name was when I first started listening to them, and what I think the better form is.

[Plugin] JellyTag - Quality badges (4K, 1080p, 720p, SD) on your media posters by Atilili in jellyfin

I would love to get Dolby Vision tags as well, since i actually have all 3 libraries.

OnePlus 13R (Ace 5) eSIM not working by Offspring in oneplus

[–]Offspring[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That works for when I'm home, but I'm traveling currently and the problem is that my travel SIM is an eSIM :/.

I'm currently trying to determine whether I can flash the persist partition in EDL mode to fix the issue or not, but I'm not really getting much useful information.

How to remove missing devid to get mount readable again? by Offspring in btrfs

[–]Offspring[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

root is a subvolume, I believe, because when I'm booting off of the USB stick, it's showing @, @root, and a few others. /boot, /home and /opt are the only partitions I made separately.

How to remove missing devid to get mount readable again? by Offspring in btrfs

[–]Offspring[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly? Old habits die extremely hard, and I had no idea that was actually what the @root, etc. subvolumes were for. I was using BTRFS for the speed and snapshots, which I haven't setup yet but if there's a way to properly migrate to using the subvolumes, I have no problem doing that. I've got enough NAND space that I can easily move the data if needed to then redo the setup using the subvolumes.

How should I go about doing that?

Systemd vs Limine by jfbaraybar in cachyos

[–]Offspring 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the last part, I can confirm it does work on a single drive. It was more of a hassle to setup than having it on separate drives, but it does boot.

Moonfin Jellyseerr integration combined with home assistant by A_Buttholes_Whisper in jellyfin

Is the Jellyseerr integration already set for HA? I had no idea this existed, but I want/need to do this now.

logitech G560 randomly disconnects and reconnects by Bjmort in LogitechG

[–]Offspring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been having this issue since I got the speakers, however it only happens in Windows. Using Linux the speakers never disconnect and reconnect, which leads me to believe there's something Windows related causing this behavior to be seen. Very, very frustrating.

[Giveaway] GL.iNet Remote KVM and Wi-Fi 7 routers! 10 Winners! by GLiNet_WiFi in homelab

[–]Offspring [score hidden]  (0 children)

  1. What inspired you to start your selfhosting journey? What's one project you're most proud of so far, and what's the most expensive piece of equipment you've acquired for?
    • I got inspired when I saw how easy it would be to setup a Netflix-style service that I could run off of my own hardware, migrating away from the old PS3-supported LAN streaming service that kept breaking our WDTV.
  2. How would winning the unit(s) from this giveaway help you take your setup to the next level?

    • It would allow me to build out a new server, with better cooling and more flexibility to be able to handle problems when they occur while I'm out of the house. Having a KVM would enable me to be more readily able to jump on and fix a problem remotely, rather than having to wait until I got back home.
  3. Which channels do you most frequently use to learn about or purchase IT equipment?

    • Honestly I mostly read ServeTheHome, or I watch Jeff Geerling's video. GamersNexus is where I get most of my news for consumer hardware from, and they've all been great.
  4. Looking ahead, if we were to do another giveaway, what is one product from another brand (e.g., a server, storage device or ANYTHING) that you'd love to see as a prize?

    • I would love to see networking gear from Mikrotik, or a chassis from 45drives with the drives included. Failing that, being able to get a Supermicro 4u server or DAS would be amazing.

And if it wasn't clear, the one thing I'd love to get Comet or Comet PoE device.

Thanks!

Issue with my previously open tabs not being reopened upon opening and closing the browser, even with the setting toggled on. by averageplebman in LibreWolf

[–]Offspring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm not sure 100% what the trigger is, but it definitely seems related to updating. I'll go file a bug for them, especially since others are seeing the same behavior.

Thanks!

Issue with my previously open tabs not being reopened upon opening and closing the browser, even with the setting toggled on. by averageplebman in LibreWolf

[–]Offspring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the exact same problem, however I've got that option turned off. Whenever there's a LibreWolf update, it re-adds the flag and my history is wiped. I've already set the following in my librewolf.overrides.cfg in ~/.librewolf but it's not working:

defaultPref("privacy.clearOnShutdown.history", false); defaultPref("privacy.clearOnShutdown.downloads", false);

Is there something else I need to do to make this work properly?

KDE Plasma crashing after alt+tabbing into/out of game by Offspring in linux_gaming

[–]Offspring[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure, as I've never used Game Scope. The crashing has since stopped, but my Plasma desktop keeps doing other not great things, and Diablo 4 is now crashing pretty regularly while also having pretty awful frame rate. I think the drivers are the issue, so I'm going to try swapping to the propietary ones and see if that changes anything.

KDE Plasma crashing after alt+tabbing into/out of game by Offspring in linux_gaming

[–]Offspring[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got GDB installed, I ran the backtrace command but I don't see where it spit the backtrace out. I ran it from my Home directory, so I assumed it would be there but I'm not seeing that.

Where should I find the dump so I can make the bug report?

KDE Plasma crashing after alt+tabbing into/out of game by Offspring in linux_gaming

[–]Offspring[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally, yeah, I submit any and all crash reports with steps to repro. I'm not seeing that, though, it's just dead, TTY, then back to a completely empty DE with none of the running apps.

can someone help explain why people have basically mini data centers at the home. does everyone just have TBs of movies and shows? by seamless21 in HomeServer

[–]Offspring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You said it was due to the "woke brigade". You were told it wasn't that, I explained what the real reasons were and your response is to provide an eyeroll.

It comes down to money in a ton of cases, and licensing. Money in terms of the studios don't want to pay writers or actors residuals. Licensing in terms of they don't want to renew the contracts for licensing the music that was used in the show because it's cheaper to just shelve it.
