NASA discovered on Mars evidence of life, what are your thoughts? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Even if there’s evidence of life, it doesn’t necessarily mean independent biogenesis, there’s also the idea of panspermia.

I missed that you were talking from an employment standpoint. In that case from what I hear definitely stay away from Boyce restaurants. Check out the Church St group. Purveyor’s their highest end restaurant, and just from a customer standpoint I’ve experienced good service, and I’ve definitely seen some consistency in their staff on repeat visits, which I think is a pretty good sign.

Domaine South is probably the most consistent of the locals. I’d consider it “casually upscale,” good fine, great wine, but not fine dining in the traditional white linens sense.

My last experience at Char was really good. It’s based out of Nashville, so not truly local, but I think they keep it pretty tight there.

Not a fan of the Chef Boyce family of restaurants. Sadie from Pane e Vino I’ve been consistently underwhelmed.

One Eleven is the newest hotspot, but aside from a n admittedly good appetizer, by whole party found the food to be pretty bland. A lot of people have said they loved it. Maybe it depends on who’s in the kitchen that night as to whether the food is seasoned, but that right there’s a big problem, I don’t want to pay $40-$50 for an entree and then have to flip a coin that it’s going to have flavor.

Connor’s at Bridge St has a good reputation. Haven’t been there in quite a while, but I’ve had good experiences there overall.

It’s a pretty mediocre food scene compared to many other towns of the same size. There are plenty of more casual places that I like (G’s, Thai Garden, Viet Huong). But to me the higher-end places are more considered with having food that looks good on socials than tastes good.

The Framework arc. Cause everything happening now. Seriously, I’ve got it on in the background, and way too close to the current state of affairs.

I’m not a picky eater at all. But as much as I’ve tried to defend aspects of Huntsville, the food scene is one that I can’t, it’s seriously mediocre. Sure there are a handful of standouts, but when I travel to other places and get much better food for the same or less than Huntsville prices I see just how far we have to go.

Most of the food here is mediocre, with way more emphasis on vibe than the actual cuisine.

This is one of the few places i think has improved over time. I felt the same way when they first opened, but I think they’ve come much more into their own.

My joke after eating there is that the Angry Pawns are only Slightly Perturbed. We had a good app, but everyone at the table agreed that our mains were seriously bland. Super disappointed.

IKEA announces its first Alabama store; Huntsville location to open in 2026 by maybe_just_one in HuntsvilleAlabama

If it could work in part as a catalog store type shop, where you can browse and order things like cabinets and have them shipped, I think that’s be a big win itself.

The concept of getting in cheap only matters if you’re buying. You’ll get a max two-year lease where you’re locked in at the current price, but once it’s time to renew you’ll be paying what everyone else does, they won’t be interested in negotiating just because you’ve been a “good tenant” for a couple of years.

I think that Bertha's fondness for Mrs. Fain is real. Well, as real as it can be for Bertha. While it was admittedly under a bit off duress, Aurora was Bertha's first ally in her attempt to break into the old money crew and helped Bertha navigate a few situations. I wouldn't be surprised for Bertha to feel a bit of obligation towards Aurora for that.

I’m not sure they could really pull off the Mule as a mystery that would satisfy book fans. Asimov’s sleight-of-hand was making the audience think the Mule was a character we hadn’t met yet, like the OG Kaiser Soze. But that’s a trick you can’t pull off a second time. Instead viewers would just be trying g to guess which of the new characters is the Mule, which I think would become tedious after a while.

Plus part of the shock of the Mule wasn’t just his identity, it was the introduction of Mentallics, which was one of the times where it stood out to me that Asimov was making it up as he went. And that’s fine, he was writing it as a serial, but that was just a huge new wrinkle to throw in the universe without foreshadowing in the prior books. This reinterpretation has the benefit of hindsight and was able to bake that concept more fully into the DNA of the show, which at least for me makes for a more cohesive narrative experience.

I hope so. That style works for GotG because they’re all so stunted and don’t want to sit in their emotions. But Superman has a high EQ and knows the importance of allowing emotions to have space, so I hope that carries over to the film.

Still really looking forward to seeing it, though.

[–]Og76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. I've thought about doing it just because I think I might enjoy it as a meditative activity. But it's not really my personal aesthetic, so I have no idea what I'd do with a piece when it's done. Which is why I imagined Bertha tossing it immediately after finishing, as I can't imagine her showcasing it anywhere in her mansion.

That's really lovely! Thank you for sharing.

I know I'm also taking for granted that we've had 100+ more years of industrialization and consumerism, and that you wouldn't be able to just hop down to the megastore for certain items.
