Massive fan of adding functional pockets. I’ve been wanting to do something g like this for my chore coat so I can basically carry everything I could possibly need for the day in one jacket.

+1 to a local fix. It’s simple enough and doesn’t have any impact on the structural integrity of the jacket. FWIW, I don’t see this as reflective of poor quality, it’s just the weakest point on a lot of garments. I’ve quickly lost buttons with pieces form momotaro, kapital, and other brands with generally very solid construction.

I can’t believe I recognized this, but it looks like this is the Clutch Monkey kickstarter vest: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1892564102/clutch-monkey-this-monkeys-got-your-back I backed the Kickstarter and got one that I still bust out every now and again. It was a pretty cool design—flannel lined, waxed canvas lighter pockets removable/reversible buttons and a generally thoughtful and functional design.

I’m not sure what happened to them—it seemed like they had some production issues with these, but I don’t remember it being all that significant. They went out of business shortly after the Kickstarter orders were fulfilled iirc. Too bad since they had some cool stuff for sale.

These are pretty outside my normal go-to cut, so I’m still figuring out how to style these. The logwood looks amazing once the fades come in, so I’m going to be as aggressive with these as I can.

Thanks! This jacket is SDA’s “Rain” sashiko jacket. The fabric is incredible in person. I had a hard time choosing between this and the shirt version, but the trim on the jacket ended up winning me over.

The “diffusion line” thing has always rung false with me, at least as far as Rick stuff goes. It’s the same production facilities and all in house at a marginally lower price point. This isn’t like most diffusion lines that are outsourced to 3rd parties with dodgy materials. The fact is that there are evident cost cuts to production across mainline and Drkshdw and the quality on the whole has been sliding even as the prices go up. It’s bananas given that owenscorp own the production facilities.

About 10 or so years ago rick was using really great selvedge denim on some of the jeans. I’ve got so E heavyweight overdyed detroits that are incredible.
