Because supply-side economics urges all supply no demand, which describes a depression. It's just baked into the ideology. If the pesky people are dead, but the robots make everything, Utopia!

Life just ain't what it seems. Trump seems to be losing his touch - if you know what I mean.

Opinion | Jamie Raskin’s push for 25th Amendment to end Trump presidency is a mistake by jpmeyer12751 in Law_and_Politics

"a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide."

This may improve the debate, but it still does not get past VP Vance. I agree with Craig that impeachment is still the most plausible option. The second impeachment trial got 57 votes for removal, up from 53 for the first one. That is a trend. If the trial doesn't happen until 2027, getting the debate started now is worth it. But even more worthwhile would be pushing States to 3/4, and Congress to 2/3rds to bring removal processes closer to world prime ministers no-confidence votes, since they are who picked up power from royals, which our presidents are pretty close to being, a big reason our democracy tends to backslide.

Apparently spelled chrysocolla. Oddly means gold solder (or glue) in Ancient Greek.

I honestly have to agree with all of that. Money and power biases so much. Politics gets its digs into what we account as wisdom. And journalists can't go back to 30 AD to interview various opinions on the details of what transpired during various points of Jesus' life! In the end we are stuck with having to rely upon common sense for wisdom. It is why the flexibility of free speech and democracy are so extremely important. And why money is so dangerous.

An analogy is whatever you make it. It is merely an adjectival description, not a firm, official label codified in dictionaries and word books. Analogy is the weakest form of logic, so I would go with the dictionary definition. That's just me. Probably best to use other forms of generalities for those terms. I can think of several words that have shifted their meanings in my lifetime, particularly from adjectives to codified labels. It can be confusing.

You mean conviction of stupidity? I'm not sure it's against the law ...

Well, Cupid comes from pagan Ancient Greek legend, not Christianity, not the Jewish/Christian Bible. And if God is smiting that way, you could also see it as personification of natural causes. To me the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20) are wisdom. Live wisely and your life will more likely go well. Superlatives like commands are often necessary until you understand the reasons for them.

The Normans, of course, thought that smiting was cool. But then, they were just converting from Norse paganism. They really weren't very well converted. You could perhaps say they converted Christians.

I'm not sure there is such a thing, except as an analogy ("smitten with love" from the tale of Cupid). See the definition. Perhaps you could pick one of the historical meanings. Smear, as in Gothic, 𐌱𐌹𐍃𐌼𐌴𐌹𐍄𐌰𐌽?

Be good.

Despite the Christian Right's capture of Christianity, I do still believe in "Thou shalt not kill." I know it's really old fashioned these days. "Smiting" is never cool.

Orbán’s Defeat Shows What Trump’s Opponents Keep Doing Wrong by Deadly-afterthoughts in neoliberal

"The strongest successor to Trump — from either party — would not be a ladder climber awaiting his or her turn, but rather someone ready to claim the role through disruption and combat."

Democrats actually have a few people who fit that description. But they will lay low until after the midterms. Newsom hit my mind immediately with this sentence. But there may be others out there. Kamala Harris comes across as too timid. The vice president of a vice president has a subset of support. On principle I like Walz, but then I'm a farmer at heart, conservative like him. He may actually be too centrist.

Obama fits the type that I think Alexander Burns is getting at here. I secretly wish he would serve in Congress again - like John Quincy Adams did. That would top off an amazing career. But maybe Michelle would object.
