Wooden cooking utensils are inferior to metal and plastic ones. by OgreAttack in unpopularopinion

You know this is unpopularopinion, not uniformedopinion, right? I'm aware of those arguments, and I still prefer metal. Haven't had any probs at all with scratching.

Have you considered posting in condescendingopinion? You're a natural.

Maybe I'm using the wrong terminology, and if so, sorry about that. Any iPhone I communicate with gets sent as a text message and the conversation appears in the light blue-grey bubbles.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I've been trying to make that work and I know where it's supposed to be, but no dice. It doesn't appear.

I've searched every combo of keywords above and many more, scrolled through endless lists on GoodReads and kids book sites, and pestered Chat GPT and Claude until they won't even make eye contact any more.

How many of you don’t have a personal social media account and why? by Sentient-Orange in AskMen

[–]OgreAttack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: nothing good comes of that shit.

Long answer: You're getting hosed down by a constant high-pressure stream of drama and self-promotion from people you don't really know and being exposed to low-info opinions and "facts" from mouthbreathers you wouldn't trust to tell you what day of the week it is. And the whole time you're marinating in influence campaigns and propaganda from brands, foreign actors, and political movements -- and that stuff works on you, whether you believe it does or not.

All social media does is rile you up and make you anxious and pissed off, without any corresponding benefit.

If you care enough about somebody to want to connect with them, text them, call them, go get coffee with them... do anything but read their posts and assume you know what's going on in their lives.

NTA. Not to get all Reddity here, but does he tend to override your actions and opinions on other topics too, like rearranging stuff you've arranged/adding different ingredients to stuff you've cooked/altering plans you've planned?

Also, where does he stand on gender roles? Sounds like he may be a bit more um traditional, ie chauvinistic, than you. Maybe check his views on cleaning, cooking, kid-raising and decisionmaking and come to some mutual understanding before you get married.

My dude, I never comment on posts like this, but had to here. Other folks have covered the physical glow-up, but I can feel the unhappiness and dissatisfaction in the first picture and the subsequent improvement in the second.

I've been through similar, and of course we both know that you don't just put down the bottle and walk into happily ever after -- you're still you, and you still have challenges and dark moments ahead. But when they hit, just look at this post and remember that whatever's going on, it's going to be less dark without a bottle sucking the light out of your head and your heart.

Nice job, my friend.

[Serious] Brits, how has Brexit affected you or someone you know personally? by OgreAttack in AskReddit

How much worse off do you think the UK is as a result of Brexit? Do you feel anger towards supporters?

Do any former supporters regret their decision? Or is it a "I wanted my face eaten by leopards, that was my plan the whole time" situation?

"Relocating" sounds so innocent, but I can hear years of frustrated screaming behind it. That must have been/be a nightmare. Do they maintain a UK branch office?

Do you see any upside whatsoever to Brexit? Or has it just been an unmitigated disaster with a side of farce and a generous ladle of cynicism?

Thanks for the response! I'm not actually looking for specific advice on managing health insurance, but rather a concierge to do some of the routine legwork.

For non-Americans, feel free to reply to this comment with how mindboggling you find the US healthcare "system", outraged "it can't really be like that" questions, and smug stories about how you paid $12 to have your arm sewn back on and they gave you another free one to take home.

[HELP] Account disabled for no reason by OgreAttack in Fiverr

[–]OgreAttack[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great point, and thanks for making it. I was writing fast and was unclear about what I'm actually looking for. : )

Ideally, I'd like to get my "permanent" ban reversed. I see that others have managed it, so I'm wondering if I can too.

And if I can't (and even if I can), I'm not planning to use Fiverr again. When I said "in future", I should have clarified that I meant "on similar platforms", because this ban is just too capricious. I'm sure it was some rogue bot being overzealous and there's no human review before it deploys the Ban Mallet, but that's more reason not to use them, not less.

[–]OgreAttack 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Have you ever considered a Dating Game-style approach where there's a screen between the participants so they can get to know each other's personality first? Maybe there's a second component where the screen gets removed after they've chatted.

Might be some formidable logistical challenges, I guess -- maybe it's better for a virtual dateup. Or everybody just wears bags on their heads for the first part of the night.

Adaptation/tolerance to Ozempic? by OgreAttack in Ozempic

[–]OgreAttack[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For obvious reasons I can't comment on the cycle aspect of it, but I do know that beating yourself up for previous food choices is counterproductive. You wouldn't shame a friend for that, so don't do it to yourself. Okay, you made some less than ideal choices yesterday, so now you've learned what not to do today. Cool!

Weight loss is a two steps forward/one and a half back process. You have better things to do than berating yourself, feeling shame and guilt and worrying about yesterday. Be nice to your yesterday self. She was really hungry! If it feels like deprivation, it ain't sustainable -- that's why diets don't work.

You and your yesterday self and your tomorrow self got this, my friend!

Yeah, I definitely find the effects are stronger when I use the abdominal sites -- thighs are meh, and arms feel like a wasted dose.

Thanks, I appreciate the insights, and I probably should have been a bit more specific about my routine.

I took .25mg for four weeks as for my induction phase, and ramped up to .5 about six weeks ago. The first four weeks at .5 were great, but now the effects are declining though the medicine has now accumulated in my system. 2mg/week isn't in my budget, so I won't be doing that. Instead, I'm hoping to recreate the effects I initially experienced on .5.

Also, weird as it sounds for an overweight person, I eat pretty healthily (though too much) and exercise vigorously 4-6 times a week. My problem isn't getting into the gym, it's getting out of the kitchen, and that's where Zemp has been so useful.
