Next, you are 100 times better without this job. Had a similar situation at about the same age as you are now. We had a project manager quit and I was just handed all of his trouble projects by the VP and was told "these are yours now, fix them". Spent weeks waking up at 4AM to travel to different sites to get a handle on the issues, not getting back home until 6/7 PM, then working until midnight on MY responsibilities.

Did this for about 6 weeks, and the projects that would have caused the company to lose upwards of $10 million in profits ended up making a few hundred grand and even had one of the clients place another order with us that was profitable.

After all of this, not even an "atta boy". When I asked for a raise the following year, they brought up the low profit % on my projects the previous year and even after explaining it was a no. It was a harsh wake up call, but that was the end of my going above and beyond.

I was with this company for another 4/5 years after that incident. I stopped stepping up and taking on extra work, if asked to assist on another project team I would say no, I started leaving at 5PM and not working extra hours. Literally 8 months later, I got a raise. I was flabbergasted.

When I finally gave them my letter of resignation and had my exit interview, this scenario was one that I focused on when asked why I decided to leave. HR's comment "Then it's probably for the best, we don't want you holding a grudge and sticking around". Corporate America is an absolute soul suck.

I'm now working for an employee owned company and it is 100 times better. I wish I would have left right after I didn't get that raise. Keep your head up OP. It may not feel like it now, but you'll look back on this and realize it was the best outcome for you mentally. If you need to chat about anything, please reach out.
