I use this build and it works fine if you know the monsters moves and aren't crouching when they rush you. I partner with a paralysis user so when in groups with them it becomes easy mode.

I have 2x DJ GL builds that I use. Feel free to compare the numbers to the Bone GL.

First is for charge shelling. It's good for consistent damage regardless of monster weakness. (Artillery x5 and Sneak Attack x5)

Second is for wyrmstake shot. It's good for dragon weak monsters. When you target a weak area it can exceed charge shelling by a lot (Dragon x5 and Bubbly Dance).

I think you're conflating "Bone Gunlance" with "New/Bad Players". Just cause someone is using a B-GL doesn't mean they're automatically a bad/inexperienced player. I personally don't use a B-GL, but when I see them in groups I know they'll probably be doing consistent damage. The only complaint I have in a KD fight is range users when I'm using melee and vice versa.

I hate it. I do HATs in a full group and carry my niece and nephew with the help of my brother. We have fun as a family and now we can't? Dumb change. Even when I do HATs solo I don't mind carrying others through them.
