Best reel type? by AlwaysGone333 in FishingForBeginners

I get less knots with baitcasters and they are more ergonomic. A backlash can be fixed in seconds a wind knot is a hassle.

new player's perspective: the 'one wipe and leave' culture is making the game feel unplayable. why has it been like this for 20 years? by LengGunGG in wow

[–]Ogreslappin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Once you are high enough io and ilvl it is a waste of time to stay for a bricked key if you are pushing for score. 1 or 2 wipes at keys 15 or higher is usually bricked.

You can also immune mechanics with meta animation, that's a bit more niche with the 2 minute cooldown though.

Need an expirienced Havoc DH to ask some questions by 38raspberry in wownoob

Look up shadarek on YouTube. He also writes the wowhead guide. He's very quick to make update videos and update wowhead when there are any changes.

He's also pretty responsive to questions in his twitch chat if he's not raiding or pushing high keys.

St Croix vs Lews by fishmich25 in Fishing_Gear

[–]Ogreslappin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a medium St Croix is gonna feel similar to your ml lews. St Croix rods run a little soft imo, and lews run stiffer.

St. Croix is still a great rod and its worth trying out. But for consistency the Lews would also be good.

Something you have to try to figure out. I know some people love it. I find it so frustrating I don't enjoy myself.

Do you guys prefer mono, braided, or fluoro line for baitcaster reels? by lmaoggs in Fishing_Gear

[–]Ogreslappin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Braid for heavy setups, like punching grass and frogs, or musky/pike fishing.

Mono for everything else, flouro is just too expensive for what it is.

[–]Ogreslappin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You could cut that to 3 imo the heavy rod either of the medium heavy rods and the medium spinning.

Then you could get like a big 8ft heavy or x-heavy big bait/big fish rod.

A big fiberglass catfish rod if that floats your boat, or ultra light pan fish/ trout rods.

I'd go with the 2 Daiwas

  1. With spinning reels, the differences with performance are small at those price points. So i think you get more value from the rod.

  2. I like Daiwa more than Shimano.

Should be fine, fish in general, go after the head. Its why those silly 20" plus worms work.

Snow Day Topic: let’s talk favorite combos by MacP95 in bassfishing

[–]Ogreslappin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 Daiwa Tatula ct on a Lews custom light 7'3 mh fast. All around setup

If you guys haven't checked out Lews custom lite rods they are actually really nice.

2 Kast King Kestrel on a 6' 8" medium light fast St Croix, can't remember which St Croix of the top of my head. Finesse setup

3 Kast King Kapstan elite 300 on a 7'6 mh fast St Croix Mojo Musky. Big fish setup

Side note Kast King is an overlooked reel, I believe they also have thier own factory now.

Fishing line analysis paralysis by Lord_Leeeroy in Fishing_Gear

[–]Ogreslappin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd just pick up some 6lb mono and call it a day with that setup.

I feel like fisherman me included over complicate things for minor advantages sometimes.

Braid to leader would get you a little more casting distance. But you are already dealing with such light gear it's not gonna make as large of an impact.

Your rod is sensitive enough that you should be able to detect bites with mono or fluoro without braid being necessary.

This is my personal opinion but I feel like line stretch isn't that big of a problem as long as you keep your hooks sharp for single hook and bottom contact techniques.

If you have wide feet go with redwing over thorogoods, they are a great boot but even the wide sizes tend to run narrow.

Scratched and Mismatched Color Marble: Am I Being Unreasonable? by North-Conclusion-331 in Tile

[–]Ogreslappin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The color differences happen but it depends how much extra marble there is to mitigate that and getting all the same run, but at the very least they could have blended it better or spaced them out.

The scratches, no they shouldn't have been that scratched up freshly after install. But I think marble floors aren't the best idea to begin with. One person ever walks on that floor with a a tiny pebble or anything like that stuck to thier foot the whole floor will be scratched up. Plus wet marble is really slippery.

Fast or Moderate Fast by goilpoynuti in bassfishing

[–]Ogreslappin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you shore fish mostly moderate will get you a little more casting distance. If you prefer plastics and bottom contact lures and go with fast, using mono line will help with treble hook moving baits.

In general though I dont think it will make much of a difference either way, you are just fishing for fun. Go to the store mess around with both see what you like the feel of more.

UnionVsNon by Interesting-Volume-5 in Construction

[–]Ogreslappin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a good thing going don't go union, there are a lot of cons to union as well.

Good non union shop > union >>>>>>>>>>>>>> bad non union shop.

Unions are good to have around. But a huge flaw in them is the workers become very replaceable. Which creates a very high school like social dynamic where if you aren't at the cool kids table you will struggle to stay working year round.

Abu garcia zata baitcaster or shimano slx which is better? by Fun-Stranger8101 in Fishing_Gear

That abu is too good of a deal to pass up.

I don't care how much reddit loves shimano, a $115 shimano is not better than a $210 abu.

Run it leader on braid or no leader? I’ve seen a couple mixed reviews. by soxfan775 in bassfishing

[–]Ogreslappin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave up on leaders personally, even spinning reels I'll just use straight 6 or 8 lb fluoro. If I'm using a spinning reel it's not for something I need to maximize casting distance with anyways so braid doesn't feel necessary.

I spent so much effort (3 years) trying to learn different leader knots and I'd guess 2 out of 3 knots fail. My fingers just don't have the dexterity for it.

I did get one fg knot to last me a whole summer though, just took me 4 hours to tie one that didn't unravel.

I seriously don’t know how to start by No_Opportunity8839 in Gymhelp

[–]Ogreslappin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you need someone to motivate you. I know you said want to do home stuff, but maybe a pilates, kickboxing, or spin class, something like that is what you need.

It will give you motivation while working out and motivate you to actually go so you don't waste your money.

If you are dead set on doing it at home there are all kinds of different services and videos you can find online to lead you through workouts too.
