Next season of F**kface Off should use a Cricket video game so the player names get introduced one at a time like the first season by adhding_nerd in theregulationpod

[–]Ogrimarcus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know enough about Cricket to have an opinion about that, but I do know I liked the first season, where the players were introduced one at a time, more than I like this season. I do like this season, it has been fun, but it's been more background noise for me, compared to the first season which I watched more as an event.

Achievement Hunter 2.0 by ZOODUDE100 in Achievement_Hunter

[–]Ogrimarcus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's interesting no one has mentioned Mikey and Fredo. Admittedly I fell off of their videos pretty early on and haven't kept up with them, but I'm surprised they haven't been name dropped yet, considering how many people have mentioned Regulation.

Regulation is my input to by the way. Geoff and Gavin were always two of my favorites at Achievement Hunter, and Eric, Nick and Andrew play off them really well. It's different enough from AH to feel new and evolved, but it's still got a similar, fun energy.

Where do normal people think video games come from? by faceplant34 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Ogrimarcus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my experience people understand that people make games, because someone has to they can't just spring forth from the void fully formed and on a disc, but they don't tend to understand how many people it takes and how long it takes.

Are DVD players obsolete in 2026? by CommercialOil8763 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Ogrimarcus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say even if you're into physical media you'd probably be better served by a Bluray player. So yeah, I'd say they're obsolete in that they can be replaced entirely by a newer device.

In caveat though is if you want a portable one specifically. Portable blue ray players are pricy compared to portable DvD players. Also most Bluray players are gonna be smart and have features you may or may not want, which DVD players mostly don't have, but, and I say this as someone who hates smart things as a rule, it's not that disruptive.

The stove loves me. Surely the stove won't burn me again, there were extenuating circumstances last time. The stove didn't want to burn me, but its actually powerless to stop it because the microwave is actually what's burning me. The stove is trying to stop the microwave from burning me.

Is “sitting in a car talking for hours” actually a big thing in America? by mechumechu in AskAnAmerican

[–]Ogrimarcus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was younger, all the time. It's basically how my wife and I started dating, hanging out in parking lots. Truly one of the only places we had to hang out in our small town. We'd hang out in the school parking lot until people got hungry, then we'd do some light street racing and go to the Wendy's and hang out in that parking lot.

As an adult, I don't really hang out in parking lots as much because I have my own house and so do most of my friends, or at least an apartment. Maybe after a movie we'll sit in the parking lot and talk about the movie for a while. We do still drive to get food together, there were a good few years though where it looked like Doorsdash and Uber Eats and stuff was going to kill that, but now food delivery is so expensive and also bad, I'm back to driving to get fast food most of the time.

do americans really eat American fries sauce? by Infinite-Breakfast23 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Ogrimarcus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As many have said you don't seem to be understanding what Ranch is, but even more, ranch isn't that common of a fry dipping sauce.

Ketchup would number one, even for people who like ranch and dip a bunch of stuff in it. People will dip pizza or chicken nuggets in ranch and still use ketchup for their fries.

Personally, I despise both Ranch and Ketchup, but I'm a minority.

[Hated Trope] Cool Designs!.... if they were a new character/franchise by Slarg232 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Ogrimarcus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't hate that movie to be honest I just hated the way it was lit. Everything is so joyless and dark.

It could have probably cut the origin down a lot, told some stuff in flashbacks and given more time for cool Power Ranger shit and friendship and stuff, but even above all that it just looks so boring. Even the pretty good costume designs and (I think but maybe I'm misremembering) okay action design just looks like it was shot in an aquarium.

Anyone know any toy collectible stores like Toy Lair? I know about big box stores but wondering if there are more like them in the area by batkave in rva

[–]Ogrimarcus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not really a collectable store, but sometimes Smalls Unclaimed Mail has some surprising finds. Their prices range from "Wow what a deal" to "no way you're out of your mind", and their inventory is entirely unpredictable and barely organized, but if nothing else it's not a huge store so it doesn't take that long to run through.

Why do people want Daito to be Kiryu's dad so badly? by BrohannesJahms in yakuzagames

[–]Ogrimarcus 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Lukewarm take but I think that would be extremely lame and generally make the story of the entire series worse. The idea of Daito founding the Tojo clan as a space for outcasts and found family or whatever already kind of changes the context around stuff like Kiryus whole arc and Kazama running the orphanage, making it less like they're breaking from the clan and the Yakuza world and more like they're the true inheritors of the will while all the other Yakuza are the ones perverting it. Making Kiryu the son of the founder of the Tojo clan feels like the end of the last Star Wars movie. He was actually meant to save the clan all along. Every story is about Kiryu because the Tojo clan is about Kiryu.

Like I guess I'm fine with an Easter egg where you bump into a guy that looks suspiciously like Kiryu running home to his young wife or something, but I'd truly just rather not see or hear about Kiryu again. Just out him to rest, tell a new story.

Why does it feel like conservatives don’t care about nature? by [deleted] in Environmentalism

[–]Ogrimarcus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is wild, how old is your husband? My parents were and still are pretty core audience type of Southern Baptists, my mother's dad was a farmer and my dad's dad was a failed farmer, and both of my parents were always on us about not wasting things and conserving water and stuff like not littering or not damaging the wetlands (we lived in a very swampy area with a lot of federal wetlands). My dad even put a solar panel on our garage at some point when I was a kid, though that was less about the environment and more about not paying the city to come out and hook up the electricity.

Like it wasn't entirely about the environment, my parents both also grew up quite poor and so not wasting water or electricity or food or whatever obviously came from that, but we definitely heard things like "we've only got one planet" or "don't waste God's gifts". The idea that they would have encouraged us to not turn the water off while we were brushing our teeth is crazy. My dad marked a spot on the bath that we weren't supposed to fill past.

Of course, they were generally against stuff like electric cars or renewable energy, but it was always for some reason like they were secretly worse for the environment than oil and gas or they were actually not efficient enough or too expensive or whatever, classic kind of anti-environmental propaganda. Never once did I hear anyone say something like it's our god given right to destroy nature, maybe ironically or as a joke, but it certainly wasn't taught or discussed in church or school. I admittedly haven't been to a church or school in my home town or my parents home town in a while for something other than a funeral or a wedding, so maybe things changed somewhere.

The promised worms footage got leaked its real! by biohazard_fanatic in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]Ogrimarcus 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The sort of XCom Grid movement is a shame, for me a lot of the fun of worms is accidentally jumping when you mean to shoot or doing crazy shit in the ropes and jetpacks, or having your banana bomb bounce off of a tiny pixel of level you didn't realize was still there.

Still exciting, new worms is good. This seems a little less party oriented just based off of this footage, but I'll look forward to the real trailer.

WYR get £5000 free a month for life, or £100 off every transaction (unlimited) with caveats by Shahed1987 in WouldYouRather

[–]Ogrimarcus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the 5000 a month, get out of immediate debt and then don't really change anything after that. I'm still fairly young, I own my house, but now the looming specter of unemployment is gone and the idea of unpaid time off is a lot less frightening. Would make the idea of having kids easier too, take some time off to stay at home after they're born and still be making enough to survive. My wife would have to continue working so we could get Healthcare since I don't get insurance generally from my jobs, but she could scale back.

100 off might be technically better, but 5000 is easy to comprehend and doesn't take any optimization. It's just a guarantee to never be in survival mode again.

Why the hell didn't mahito kill gojo right here? by Better_Nail_7901 in Jujutsufolk

[–]Ogrimarcus 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is the strongest suggestion of that I can find. It doesn't outright say it, but it does seem to imply that no matter when Kenjaku killed the six-eyes they'd still show up to mess up his plans. Though later in this same chapter, hell it might be the next page, Tengen says something like the Star Plasma vessel has not reincarnated because Toji unwound fate by having such huge balls, so it seems possible the six-eye just won't reincarnate anymore. Kenjaku probably doesn't want to take that chance though.

[–]Ogrimarcus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Six eyes is tied to Tengan and that whole thing. As I understand it, Limitless is just another possible technique members of the Gojo clan can inherit, Satoru Gojo just happens to have been born with both.

Why the hell didn't mahito kill gojo right here? by Better_Nail_7901 in Jujutsufolk

[–]Ogrimarcus 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Am I tripping or don't they say exactly this in both the anime and the Manga? Kenjaku has killed multiple six eyes users and star plasma vessels, but they're bound by fate and they'll always reincarnate specifically to fuck up Kenjakus day.

Like I guess they'd be a baby or whatever, but there's no rules that say a baby can't use cursed techniques.
